WK 10: River Valley (7-2) @ Shadyside (3-6)

Post by carbon_dated »

Might be the best game of the week. Shadyside improving each week.
Tigers won 2 straight, up to 11th in joeeitel's ratings, and no easy task winning at Fleming Field.
Don't know much about RV but maybe someone from Gallia Co. can fill me in.

It's essentially a playoff game for the Raiders. I hope they can get out with the win.

O&B is correct. Looks like this is a win and they are in scenario for RV. River Valley got a big win Friday against Athens. Not sure how much of a crowd RV will bring to Fleming field, but this should be a good one, especially with the Tigers showing great improvement the last couple of weeks. I'll take the Raiders in a close one.

I still say the 93 team was the best. For sure the O-Line on that team was better than this year. This line is good, but 93 was just a bit better overall. And how bout that Athens game? I talked to a guy from Athens that said the refs cheated them off the field. That's a shame if true. One thing that never happened in 93.
This is the Best team in the schools history. Your 93 team couldn't carry water for these young men. :o

I will give RV credit for having the nads to step up and play a team of this caliber when most of SEO runs from competition. But they will soon learn they aint Logan. They have bitten off more than they can chew in this one. Actually this could be the game that puts Logan in the playoffs.

RV I would say mirror's Fort Frye and Caldwell big strong and power but better passing.Probley wins by 13.It will be a good game.A lot on the line for both.RV wins problem go to 6th and rematch with Alex week 11.Shadyside win couple teams lose sneak in at 7 or 8 pick up big points.

Sounds about right, except the playoffs part.

Is Shadyside capable in this game? I know they are 3-6, but they have played a tough schedule.

The thing you have to remember about Shadyside is they usually don't LOSE at home and this year the Tigers have played the toughest schedule EVER in their history. The defense is the key. If Shadyside can force a few 3-and-outs, maybe a turnover, they win. Holenka and his staff are some of the best coaches in the OVAC. Been together for quite some time. And, the Tigers want to keep their playoff streak alive.

Gotta say I'm a little nervous for the Raiders in this one. I don't know enough about Shadyside to make a prediction, but I know their record is not an indicator that defines how good they are.

Yes and we are all very proud of you. How many teams from outside SEO did your team beat that year? No need to answer. You all were part of the cut-n-run movement from the only varsity league in that part of the state so we know how you feel about tough competition.

The Raiders are having a great run.

I would assert that this is the best team that has gone through RV.

The record says so. That's all that matters.

Now will they have the cojones to come back to the major league that they cut-n-ran from years ago? Or will they continue to duck competition in the minor league?
