Eh I guess they are pretty similar. Webster is missing the powerhouse in the middle though. One thing I can say for sure is there is no team that plays better when they are *INSPIRED* Seems like they get down and out to easy..
Re: S.W. @ Burg 1/22
4th n goal-Is your argument for or against Stegman? In his post, Swanker pine said he thought Stegman was the best player. I was confused by your post. Wondered if you misread Swanker Pine's post or if I misread yours.

Burgs guards didn't handle websters pressure verywell
in second half, an let them back in it . U don't go sideways
against pressure

I listened to the game on the radio and it sounded like to me that Burg wouldn't stop shooting three's in the 4th qtr. There was about a 6-8 minute stretch from the end of the 3rd to near the end of the game that Stegman didn't touch the ball. It was obvious that SW had no one that could stop him but still yet he hardly touched the ball. Roger Gray even commented once that it sems like they have went away from him.

They had open looks but couldnt hit those 3's. @yabbadabbadoo. Stegman was unstoppable because he wasn't contested in the paint. you cant go up and block the shot or a foul was certain reguardless if it was a foul or not, and he doesnt miss free throws.

I think Swanker is right. Not taking anything away from Stegman, he's a great player but a lot of the fouls that the refs called were in anticipation of a foul occurring, whether it actually was a foul or not. Having watched numerous games in the SOC growing up, and playing in the SOC, and now watching games in the SOC again, there has been one constant over the years and its the subpar officiating. It don't matter who the teams are that are playing, there is no consistency in the foul calling. A foul on one end of the floor should be a foul on the other end. With that being said, you can't really say that Burg won because of the refs. If the Jeeps would have hit their foul shots and shot the ball better close to the basket, they would have won. Both teams played hard and it was a fun game to watch. Good luck to both teams the rest of the season!

There was to many 3s takin in second half, an why # 21
is aloud to take so many 3s is beyond me .takes way to
many, he's not a consistant shooter. Massie is th most
consistant 3 point shooter, burgs got ,an gets th less shots
, don't make sense.if u shoot under 30% , u wouldn't shoot 3s
for me.

I agree that Stegman played a great game last night and he is a great player. The outside shots were not falling, but he took over the game on the inside where he could not be stopped.chocolate wrote:4th n goal-Is your argument for or against Stegman? Re: S.W. @ Burg 1/22
very ugly game played by both. surprising that score was so high. sw played hard to get back into the game. stegman was the player tonight. sw had no answer. guy being thrown out was funny. he missed the best part of the game. no idea what he did but it was an awfully cold night to sit in the car. game 2 should be fun at their place.

I believe that games like this one can only make us better. We had a great regular season last year, but laid an egg in the district semis vs Southern. Hopefully this year we will continue to get better and use all this experience to enable us to make a long and fun tournament run. The kids like each other and truly believe in the coaching staff. The coaching staff is young---but---very mature and in control of their own emotions and the kids emotions. We are blessed to be represented by those 4 guys! We never have to worry about our coach (or coaches families for that matter) doing something that will represent our town or community in a negative light. Sometimes when your coaching staff is as young as ours you see a lot of technicals or outrageous behavior........... not from this staff or team.
We won't see anyone better in the tournament at the local level then we are facing night in--night out in our league. I enjoy going to games and watching these kids play. They play hard and stay together during the tough times. They will all struggle from time to time, but they seem to be able to help each other out and get through those times.
Wheelersburg got us last night----it was a great 4th quarter----it will be another tough one when they come to our place. No excuses!

South Webster will finish strong the rest of the season and should go far in the tourney. They have a solid team and work hard. I see a deep tourney run! Any news on the Miller boy?

Re: S.W. @ Burg 1/22
Good come back by the jeeps. Only problem I have is that 2 times now in 2 close games(Waverly and Wheelesburg) that a time out wasnt used by the jeeps in the closing seconds. Both times we drove into the lane and got nothing. Against Waverly we threw up a contested over the shoulder globe trotter circus shot and then looked for a foul and against wheelersburg a charge was called in the attempt. Just an observation from an innocent bystander.
Sutton needs to get more touches in the post. He goes away from the ball way to often. He doesnt have to shoot the ball when he gets he just needs to get it to keep the defense honest. I think he has pretty good court vision and is a pretty good passer.
Good minutes from the Dyer kid too. Would like to see Dyer and Sutton in the game together every once and awhile. Especially for rebounding and defense. We dont seem to be able to guard a good post player one on one. Need some help from the weak side. I think Sutton could have changed some shots saturday by coming from the weak side, because Stegman wasnt looking to pass. And I wouldnt have either. He had a feast down there.

S.W. is a very scrappy and good ball club and I look for them to make a deep run come tourny time in there respected division. Burg has struggled with putting teams away this year when they have had them on the ropes.. Alot of shots taking behind the arc in the second half that let S.W. right back in the game.. Burg has struggled the last 2 games behind the arc, if you aint hitting why keep shooting it. I don't believe Massie or McBee took a shot in the second half of that game. Would like to see those 2 look to score more. Stegman was an animal underneath every time he touched it. After Webster stormed back they finally went back to him, I would have fed it to him every time down the court ..

Ashton dislocated his shoulder and has to wear a brace when he plays that only allows his arm to extend back so far.

Exactly. I couldn't understand why they went away from him in the 4th. SW had no answer for him and he was causing them to get into foul trouble. They kept chucking up three after three and they weren't falling.
