1-28 Athens@Vinton Co.
Re: 1-28 Athens@Vinton Co.
The Shekinah team was a very respectable opponent. They had decent size and a good point guard. Sort of reminded me of the Maffin boy from Athens. He shot well in the first half, but did not shoot much in the second half. Good win for VC and need to look for this weeks match up and get focused. Crucial game against Meigs this week. Hopefully we can rebound from the loss to them earlier this season..

93Bulldog, This team is far from fickle. They work as hard as any team I seen. They may not be as talented as you want them to be, but fickle they're not. They battle each and every game and right now they are tied in the loss column with the top two teams in the league. They have played Warren, Marietta twice, Dublin Scioto, and Chesapeake. Who else has taken on that schedule in the TVC. Give the kids some credit.

Bulldog64 ... I think I said 'Kids can sometimes be fickle.' ... I didn't mean the Athens team actually IS.
I usually always give the Athens players credit. So much so that I often take some critisism for it. My insight into the VC game was just one point a view from one observor looking on from the 'cheap seats' - and I wouldn't say a word if I didn't want them to win.
I think throwing out some 'tough love' to your team every once in awhile isn't a bad thing - and from where I was sitting - loose balls and rebounds seemed to favor Vinton County Friday night. It happens all the time ... in high school, college and even pros. But I definitly didn't mean any disrespect toward the team or Coach Skinner or anyone for that matter.
* Perhaps I should have used a different word or phrase than saying fickle: How about "teams show up without their 'A' game sometimes - and every once in awhile - they play with less intensity than in other contests."
Now, that statement is an absolute fact when it comes to ANY sports team at any level - there is just no way Athens is immune to such a thing happening ... Did it happen Friday in McArthur? I can't say for sure - it just appeared that way - that's all.

Shekinah Christian was a very good team. Here is a team picture. They shot the ball very well and played really smart. The Vikings got them a good win Saturday!

Nice try! That is funny. However, here is the link to their schedule and results. If my math is correct they are 11-3. They were a nice team and I would not want to play them during tournament time.
