Wasn't certain if there was anyone between James and Tripplett.

I was in school when James and Tripplett were there. I truly believe that Tripplett had things going in the right direction. His leaving started the down fall in my opinion.

I hope that RV finds a great coach and that coach gets the full support of the school and community. They have a couple years to get the ship righted before they come to the TVC.

Not a knock on Merle at all but, I believe he knew when to leave.RVRaiderFan wrote:I was in school when James and Tripplett were there. I truly believe that Tripplett had things going in the right direction. His leaving started the down fall in my opinion.

I know a couple of guys that would be great choices that are somewhat local but they probably won't apply.

Turning attention back to the future for the Raiders. I have to agree with Sandman that a culture change would be needed. Have any names come to the surface yet in the quest for a new football coach for River Valley?

I know a coach who could get this outfit moving in the right direction and do it fairly quickly. Maybe someone should call him and ask about his interest. He probably would not be interested but thats just probably.

Ty Johnson played at RV in the late 90s under Merril T and Larry Carter.
I believe he graduated with my younger brother Thomas.
I think he has been involved with the Lucasville-Valley and South Gallia programs since graduating.

If it is Ty, nice to see an alum take the job. I graduated in 97, and I believe Ty was a year or 2 behind me...so he would be 98 or 99. If this is true, congrats to Ty!! Hopefully an alum can turn this program in the right direction.

Welcome to River Valley, the grave yard of football coaches.
Re: River Valley Coach Resigns -- for real?
If he is truly the coach, at least they are giving him some time to get ready. This is unusual for the GCLS. He will need to get started ASAP. Perhaps his first order of business should be to cruise the halls a bit and get some people out.
Don't forget the students at Buckeye Hills. Sometimes some of the toughest customers go there. It is the standard operating procedure to overlook them but it is a largely untapped resource for RV.
