I agree with you they started out hot and rolling. That was 1 of the better basketball classes to come out of RV in the past decade, but compare them to other schools. I would say they were average or maybe a little above average if you think of other schools. I think you need to get your facts straight too.

1) That 04-05 team did not start 7-0 Tubby is correct. Did not start 7-0 or anywhere near that.
2) Although a close game for a quarter or maybe a half, Ironton ended up beating them by 20+
Not a fact here but.... Down 12 with 2:00 left in 3rd. Ironton 8-0 run to close the quarter. Wags a steal and lay up, Gagai couple 3's.
3) As pine already said, that player quit. So if he was such an animal he would have stuck it out for the whole year. Dismissed from team. All that needs to be said on here.

I don't know how this got started on the football thread. Agree. Should start interviews soon since bball is over and AD can concentrate on finding a new coach.

When are they going to hire? It's almost April and that wont give the new coach time to do much.

From what I have heard only applicants that they have an open teaching position for. So I would assume that eliminates few of the better coaches.

One would think that non-teacher coaches would be the wave of the future in Ohio, especially with the way Kasich has cut budgets to non-charter public schools. schools wont be able to make jobs for coaches, an i guarantee the PE teachers will be cut first. Is it true that the school district is expecting a diouble digit percentage cut on the budget?

There were 22 applicants and has been narrowed to 4 or 5. The top two leading candidates are supposedly Dan Polcyn and Ron Hammond. I would think out of 22 applicants they could find a better choice for a coach than these two! Obviously the Board of Ed does not want to better the program. Nothing personal, but I thought they really wanted to turn the program around.

I expect that RV will hire a coach on April 25 at the next board meeting.

And Ron Hammond didn't apply.

And no, it won't be me.

Well since it was obvious that their main concern wasn't football but rather someone charla could keep a tight leash on I would imagine it will be the same old RV story.
