He played at Ohio University he said and I think he said like 4-5 years ago...I would guess 26-29 years old. He seemed to be a very nice guy and excited too.

could be a wake up call for the new coachGalliaGrad89 wrote:Whatever. I'm glad it turned out that it was someone not in the school system. It will be a major wakeup call for the boys. If charla let's him do his job RV won't be a joke anymore. Good luck coach!!Rvbballdude wrote:Looks like you Are out of the loop and spreading bad info?GalliaGrad89 wrote:Well there were 2-3 candidates that could have turned the program around however they never got interviewed. You are probably right about hiring a teacher in the system. What a joke but hey that's RV!
Joke? Find a mirror(:

Jerrod Sparling. The following info was research I did on the web. I hope it to be correct. Played high school ball at Newcomerstown. Played at OU and I believe but not positive, Emporia State. But he is listed in the ESU 2009 media guide as an assistant coach. Young or not, I am very excited about the hire. Great job AD and administration. Now let's give him a few years before we judge. He is coming into a tough situation. He has a coaches bio in the media guide.

I saw in the paper where this hire was made official. Good luck to the new coach and the program.

I remember a guy from Blepre who was a College player and everyone thought he was young as well.
Name of James Sprague i think anyone in Gallia County in the 70's knew that name? He easily won more games than any coach in this county in the 70's EASILY!

I think he has met with the team, selected his staff but he's not getting down here until the second week of June.

Well, the McDonald's at the edge of town in Newcomerstown is nice with a lot of memorabilia from two of the best known men in america who hail from that same town, Wayne "Woodrow" Hayes and Denton "Cy" Young. Maybe this new young gun can turn around the fortunes of the Raiders but he'll probably not stay around long as it's probably just the first step on his journey back toward's home from Kansas and in reality he's probably looking for a job closer to his hometown roots up I-77 and when he finds it, he's gone.
