Re: SHL Scores and Standings Week #10
I'm afraid scheduling is going to be even more of a challenge with all the budget cuts being floated around for the Ohio Valley School district. I really don't buy into arguing schedule strength at the high school level anyway. Any given team can lose a lot of strength in one year depending on who graduates. Teams could have put North Adams on the schedule 3 years ago and the first time would have played a very good team and then last year would have faced a not so good team. One graduating class can really change a team.jchitwood wrote:you're preaching to the choir...I'm jealous of the schedule that Whiteoak, Manchester, and Fairfield get to play. It would be greta if PHS could be in the Beasts of the Southeast.sparky wrote:the peebles schedule makers had to know that this year's team was going to be very good and they have to play 8 league games against d4 teams. then why would they schedule other small schools like latham and st patrick? this does not get them battle tested for the competition they are going to run into in a very strong d3 se district. i know non league schedules are usually made a year or two in advance and if you are going to be strong you schedule stronger and if you are going to be weak you look for some easy or possible wins.
over the years i have seen schools go 20-0 including weak non league opponents and get beat in the first or second round of the tournament. all coaches should have some say in the scheduling process because they are the ones who bite the bullet when they don't win enough games.

man, I wouldn't care if we beat them or not. It's all about playing good competition to get better. Plus it would have been great to see Treg play against his former classmates.streetballer wrote:im tellin ya no u dont..u guys r good but u dont have the speed to hang with em....aint physical enough to hang with em...theyd beat ya by 15+TribeManiac10 wrote:Yeah I do.streetballer wrote:u dont wanna play mason county

I would say that any of the top teams in the SHL would have a good chance to beat Mason County. Fleming County and Deming (a school smaller than Manchester) both gave the Royals unexpected close games. They are too inconsistent and arent as good as they have been the past couple years. Yes, they are still a good team but they arent as unbeatable as most people think. It irks me that most people from Kentucky look down upon Southeastern Ohio schools and don't give them the credit they deserve. I occasionally browse another website dedicated to southern Ohio/northern Kentucky and it's amazing how many people get on there and say that no team in southeastern Ohio could stand up to MC.

Heard a rumor today that Peebles is scheduled to play both Piketon and Portsmouth during the regular season next year....any truth to this?

chitwood and tribe,
just how good will peebles be next year? isn't there another justice in the lower levels? how does he compare to his brother or cousin at the same stage of his career?

Re: SHL Scores and Standings Week #10
Next year is kind of a mystery right now. We return two starters in Daniels and Arey but pretty much have a blank slate beyond them. Yes there is another Justice coming up....Beau, who is Blake's younger brother and who is very similiar skill wise to how his brother was at his age. With Ripley moving to the small division and Peebles to the big I think the Indians will have a chance to contend for another league title considering the strength of their JV team and the continued improvement of the few players we have on varsity at the moment and Beau. Eastern Brown will be a massive test for them though as they return their 3 best players in Chase Lawson, Jordan Payne, and the Stout kid plus bring up the Scott kid from JV(the way he plays sort of reminds me of Tyler Knabb). North Adams will also not be a slouch...they do lose a couple of good players to graduation(most importantly Drew Dollich) but they have a young nucleus this season who I think can be looked on to step up next year. Lynchburg is still an unknown to me so I cant fairly estimate their prospects for the division.sparky wrote:chitwood and tribe,

Re: SHL Scores and Standings Week #10
yeah there is beau justice in the lower ranks who is just as good as blake was at beaus age
Re: SHL Scores and Standings Week #10
Beau is a different kind of player than Blake...more of a point guard than a shooting guard. The kid's spent his whole life playing against Brett and Blake...he's a player.
I've been very familiar with this group of kids since they were, oh...about 8 years old. They lost one game from 4th grade through 8th grade. Now, I know that doesn't always translate to success at the varisty level, but I think these boys are going to be good. For one they're very basketball smart, and have been doign things like help side since they were hoarding milk money.
Also, there are some darn good players in the mix (as evidenced by the JV's record) who a few years ago would have been starting sophomores for Peebles.
Now, whether they'll go 20-0 I have no idea. But I thinkn Peebles will be a good team for years to come.
Tribe as far as Lynchburg goes, their 7th grade team has near unstoppable all through school. Again, who knows if that will translate to the varsity level, but you never know.
What's Whiteoak going to look like next year?
