Waverly @ West - 2/1/11

Post by Buckeye24 »

Didn't see a topic for this one..

anyway I just left the game. Waverly was up by about 20. I didn't see what happened or who it was, but one of their players was down for 20+ minutes with a head injury. I didn't see it happen, but I walked in right after and I didn't see him move once. Hopefully he's ok and they were just keeping him still as a precaution.

I'm told Harrison Martin (Waverly) is the one who was injured. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

I spoke with Harrison's mom last night and this morning. Harrison was released from the hospital last night. Keep him in your prayers that he has a speedy recovery.

The way I heard it on the radio it was a loose ball scramble and he may have taken a knee to the side of the head as well as hitting the back of his head on the floor.

Harrison will be fine. Hopefully his recovery will not be long. He is in good hands with Waverly's trainer, who will not allow any activity until he is 100%. What no one has mentioned on here is how good Waverly is playing now. No longer is West a easy win, as the Burg can attest to. Waverly had the Ironton game won against some pretty bad odds. They come into West and controlled the game from the opening tip. When Harrison comes back how many of the D-2 teams in the tourney wants a piece of Waverly?

Yeah, Waverly looked good. They started on a 12-0 run, and didn't look back from there.

You are right soccerfix, Waverly is playing good ball and while their record isn't good everyone in the D2 sectional knows they are much better than that. I don't think anyone really wants a piece of Waverly but it will be interesting to see how the politics of the draw play out.
Da Tigers just need to take one game at a time and focus on continuing to get better. Next up is the journey to Jackson County and Oak Hill. It's time to end the losing streak to the Oaks.
