Super sectional setup
First round
15 vs. 18 seeds
16 vs. 17
Second round
1 vs. 16-17 winner
2 vs. 15-18 winner
3 vs. 14
4 vs. 13
5 vs. 12
6 vs. 11
7 vs. 10
8 vs. 9
Third round
Eight remaining schools play i.e. 1 or 15-18 winner vs. 8-9 winner
Four teams left qualify for district

Basically works like an NCAA bracket
Another idea is to go to different divisions at different sectional sites to minimize travel, also an NCAA idea. Open up Logan, SE, Waverly, Jackson, Athens and the D4 sites to host different games.

For example, Warren and Gallipolis are matched against each other in a second round game. They would be assigned the Jackson site as the closest site. Logan Elm and Athens are also slated to play in the second round and are assigned to Logan. Hillsboro and Marietta are slated to play and are assigned to Jackson or Logan. Vinton County and Chillicothe are slated to play and assigned to Southeastern. Westfall and Nelsonville are slated to play in D3 and are assigned to Logan. Zane Trace and Adena are slated to play in D3 and assigned to Southeastern. Those are just some examples.

Size of gym would also have to be a consideration. Can it hold the crowd?

Eastern, elm isn't what they normally are this year. They were absolutely worked over by a Carroll team that is very similar to Sheridan. Also, New Lex is better then both Gallia and Athens this year, they are solid. Also are very similar to FU, I'd actually list them ahead of them as they beat them head to head on the road and played their common opponent (Sheridan) much closer. This is a good sectional.

Gahs4ever, I think Warren should get the #1 seed IF they win both games this week. Marietta Tue., Chilli Fri. they are 14-1 not 15-1. Besides the two games this week, they have New Lex next Tue., Gallia Fri., and Portsmouth Sat. This is a rough ending, NO weak teams from here. To win out it will take a lot of EFFORT on their part, But they should be ready for the tourny.

The one thing they have going for them is only the Gallia. game is away. OUR HOUSE, they are hard to beat!!!! GO TEAM WARREN WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!

The point of the Super-sectional is that there are currently five teams with 12 wins in this sectional. Do you think that Warren wants to play a 12-3 Vinton County or Logan Elm wants to play a 13-2 Sheridan team just to get out of the sectional? It happen last year, a 19-1 Athens team lost to Warren in the sectional finals. While the other sectional, with the exception of Chillicothe, is mediorce at best.

Exactly. You don't get one strong sectional and one weaker sectional. For example, the D3 Jackson sectional is brutal and the D3 Athens sectional isn't nearly as strong.

At this point, I'd go with 1. Warren 2. LE 3. Sheridan 4. Marietta 5. Vinton 6. Fairfield Union 7. New Lex 8/9 Athens/Gallipolis
If LE trips up this week and Sheridan wins, they go to No. 2.

Also, you'll probably see the MVL and MSL teams try to stay away from each other in the first round.

Bad loss for LE against Hamilton Township.

Sheridan should have the two and Marietta and LE will probably battle for the three.

I think Marietta is going to have a very difficult time justifying a 3 seed when they have 6 losses. According to that trivalleyconference.com website, the records are as follows:

1. Warren 15-1 (they should be a lock for the first seed)
2. Sheridan 13-2
3. Vinton County 12-3
4. Logan Elm 13-4
5. Marietta 12-6
6. Fairfield Union 7-8
7. New Lexington 7-10
8. Gallia 6-11
9. Athens 6-11

I'd say Logan Elm or Vinton County should get the 3 seed, with the other getting the 4.

Marietta's 6 losses have came from teams with a combined 42-8 record (Warren x2, Chillicothe x2, Portsmouth x2). Vinton County's 3 losses have came from teams with a combined 30-22 (Dover, Meigs, Wellston). 6 losses never look good, but those are all quality teams. I don't think you can say the same about Meigs and Wellston, not sure of Dover.

1. Warren
2. Logan Elm
3. Sheridan
4. Marietta
5. Vinton County
6. Farfield Union
7. Gallia
8. New Lexington
9. Athens

Sheridan will have a hard time getting 2 seed because only New Lex will have the back of the Generals.

They will likely get backing from FU also. They embarrassed FU and the falcons also lost to MVL 6th place New Lex this year. Couple that with Elm having more losses too. Either way 2 or 3 seed you are looking at Sheridan and Elm likely playing for a sectional title. Sheridan finishes the season with home games against New Lex/Maysivlle/John Glenn (all good teams), also play road tilts with West M (who took unbeaten D4 top ranked Rosecrans to Overtime last week, and ECOL leading Coshocton. Meat grinder to finish the season, they will be battle tested come tourny time.

that isn't how they do "super sectionals".. There is a big board with the brackets on it. Then in order, #1 puts there name on the board, then #2, #3,#4 and so on. So, this year, lets say Chilly would get the overall #1 seed - they put their name on the bracket. Then #2 is going to go to the other half of the bracket, #3,4,5 probably would too, finally someone will go in the same half of the bracket with chilly and you go until all teams have put their name on the brackets - and that is how the central district does it.

And the #1 seed like Beechcroft in the central district absolutely looked ahead and chose the athens regional as their path to the final 4!! It wasn't by accident.

I would love to see the SE go this way...it would end ALL of the bi**hing about seeds. The teams with the great records that really aren't that good would be called out early and often in this format!

Elm lost a home game the other night to MSL last place Hamilton Twp. Unless the respect vote for coach stiverson comes in to play Sheridan should be no lower then the two seed.

VC's only shot at the 3 seed is a win over NY and Piketon this weekend. Even then it will be a stretch imo. What hurts them is the fact that there is only one other TVC school with a winning record...and that team beat VC earlier this season. At 14-3, it will be close.

Warren should be the number 1 seed. The next three seeds should be real interesting with Logan Elm, Sheridan, and Vinton County having similiar records. At this point Marietta is probably the 5th and Fairfield Union the 6th. The two sectional championship games in this sectional are going to be great games! The top 6 teams are very well coached especially on D. If a team can score 45-50 points they are going to win.

For Vinton County, 2 of their 3 losses were in the first 5 games of the season. They are playing great team basketball and their defense has been exceptional. I am looking forward to this sectional as we will see just who can live up to the hype that is on this website. I saw Logan Elm play early this season and they were fair compared to the last few years. I really want to see Warren, as there is alot of good spoken of their team. Coach Combs has done a great job this year with a team eveyone said would be marginal. Finish strong against Wellston and Jackson. One and done is just around the corner.
