BTW - I don't think Floyd had the Vikings in the top 8 - so feeling blessed might be a bit of a problem.

Also ... I definitly would NOT consider myself a Vinton County supporter. They have been my teams' biggest rival (on the hardwood) the past three years ... I'm strictly staging an argument for the Vikings on what they have been able to accomplish as a team this year. The basis of my argument stems from knowing that VC beat Piketon, the No. 8 team, not only this year - but the Vikings knocked off the Red Streaks 67-53 last year as well ... Both games were played on a neutral floor.

In my eyes ... If you have two teams with similar resumes - and one team beats the other straight up over the weekend - that team should definitly be ranked higher when the polls/rankings come out the following week.

... 93dog ... I understand where you are coming from BUT Vinton DID move up 5 spots on the list while Piketon dropped 1 from 7 to 8 ... I looked at VC having played 5 teams with winning records on the season - Paint Valley (10-8) who is in the 4th spot of the SVC a VC win, you mentioned Southeastern (9-9) 5th spot in the SVC and not above .500, Fairfield (8-9) a VC win, Dover (12-6) a VC loss, Wellston (10-8) a VC loss , you threw in VC's win over "Chaka Khan" Christain School a D4 team out of Plain City - they do have a winning record a 3 seed in their D4 sectional, Meigs (9-10) a VC loss, Wellston (10-8) a VC loss... 2-3 vs the 5 teams with winning records VC has played this season ... Piketon being THE quality win for VC ... Piketon has played Paint Valley twice for 2 W's , Huntington (12-7) for 2 wins, Unioto (13-6) for 2 wins, taking on VC for a loss, Zanesville (ranked in the state D2 #5 at the time I believe and THE BEST team I have watched play this season) ... Piketon 16-2/VC 14-3 ... the head to head on a neutral floor brought the 2 teams closer in the standings for sure ...the committee of one - me - couldn't see dropping Piketon 10 spots in the rankings for the one loss while at the same time have Vinton Co leap frog 9 teams into the 8 spot ...

... I will see Vinton County take on my Purple Boyz tomorrow night at Vinton County ... it will be the 2nd time that I have seen VC this season - 1st time was obviously early in the season since I didn't see anything in the middle of the season LOL ... there is still the Week that IS for VC to make some noise and others to slip up ... we'll be watching all the teams closely in this final week of the regular season prior to putting together the Final Elite 8 listings next Monday night 2/21/11 ...

pfloyd, I saw VC when my Peake panthers scrimmaged them this year. They looked like a good coached team and could give a lot of teams trouble.

... peake71 - I totally agree - Vinton County IS and has always been well coached under the guidance of Coach Combs ... I posted on another thread that I believe that the job Coach Combs and his staff have done this year may be the best yet ... I DO feel VC IS A good ball club, I just don't think they are an Elite 8 squad ... it will be good to see the Maroon & White tomorrow night again in person ... my Purple stand at only 4-13 BUT LHS is D1 , LHS does have inside size and LHS does have some perimeter folks that will make this one interesting ... should be a good game ... we will see ...

WCH over Madison Plains 62-61 tonight. Weird play to end the game, WCH takes a charge and then goes down and makes both FT's. MP(down 3) then drives down the court and makes a layup with 3 seconds left, and 0 timeouts.

The "consertaive" way Floyd is this: Team (A) and team (B) have very similar records ... Team (A) beats team (B) straight up for the 2nd year in a row ... Team (A) now moves ahead of team (B) ... 2 + 2 = 4.

BTW - You know I'm just razzin you a bit Floyd - I feel its important we throw out some challenges here and there to keep you on your toes ... lol

Oh yea - you could have chose the 'tea party' philosophy Floyd & crossed party lines ... You know, make everyone happy by creating a tie for the No. 8 spot between Piketon & VC ...

I wish I had the time & energy to provide a stark contrast to your 'tree huggin, free lovin Elite 8' Floyd ... I'm just way too consumed with covering the TVC now - and with the expansion to 15 teams - its just way to hard to follow the Warren's, Ironton's, etc...etc... (which is what it takes to provide a legitimate and honest Elite 8 ranking of teams.) ...

BUT ... Now that we're getting ready for ALL the teams' to cross paths (Sectional/District tournaments) ... I get to jump into your top 8 threads and offer some argumentative facts ... Finally, after all this time - you get to have "your voice of reason" back Floyd!! lol ... In the form of a grumpy old dog from A-town.

And not to worry - I will be sure to fill your ear up at the Convo with all kinds of TVC hype ... lol ... Just don't bring 2old along again - I'm not sure if I can handle all the Athens bashing for any amount of time this year ... It's taken me about 5 years to get over the 6-0 defeat at the Hill top in 2002 - but 2old, I am sure, would be fast to have me remember all over again that painful night.
