1) ... any positives happening at the WarriorDome last night ???? - it is easy to look at a lopsided loss from the "glass is half empty" point of view BUT if you turn your head JUST a LITTLE that glass IS just as much half full ... after reflecting and posting on the near flawless TEAM game that Portsmouth played I put on the Pink Floyd Pulse cd to "take a closer look" at what I saw from Warren "basketball" in the WarriorDome last night:
2)... Warren DID play a very good basketball game for 24 minutes ... held their own - defensively holding Whitley to 0 pts, Underwood 4 pts., Evans 4 pts (no 3 pters), Jordan 0 pts. CAN'T DO better than that imo outstanding effort ... PHS 48 WHS 46 after 3 quarters/24 minutes ...
3)... Warren thru 3 quarters handled the Portsmouth pressure man to man defense as well as anyone this season ONLY 5 TOs ... PHS 48 WHS 46 after 3 quarters/24 minutes ...
4)... Warren had 7 players in the scoring column ( Venham 11 pts, Leffingwell 4, Hastie 2, Cunningham 12, Ward 9, Knost 2, Winland 6) ... WHS got the ball into scoring positions with the right people getting touches ...PHS had scoring from but 5 players ... PHS 48 WHS 46 after 3 quarters/24 minutes ...
5)... Warren had 3 treys from beyond the arc by Tyler Ward to get them BACK into the game in the 3rd ... the kid stepped up, drained 2 BIG ,clutch, TEAM "had to have" threes in the 3rd - MO on the Warren side going into the 4th ... PHS 48 WHS 46 after 3 quarters/24 minutes ...
... as we ALL know 3 quaters/24 minutes do not a game make ... PHS 75 WHS 58 after 4 quarters/32 minutes ...
... BUT (and there is always a BUT) ...
* ... Warren showed us the Warriors of the future AND what could be more PT for the youngsters in the PRESENT/POST SEASON as Coach Maddox put the JVs on the floor together in the Varsity game in the final few minutes of action ... as Freshmen Evan French/Reese Patton both knocked down 3's to end the Warren scoring vs the Portsmouth starting unit pressure man D ... PHS 75 WHS 58 a final ...
* ... I have to give a plug to Coach Duckworth's JV squad ... 19-1 on the season - outstanding TEAM ... TEAM meaning great chemistry, scorers blended with outstanding role players ... the Warren faithful will see nothing but even BETTER basketball next season ... names to remember for the post season/next couple/three years for Warren basketball : Evan Yabs, Adam Lang, Matt Drayer, Chaz Miller, Evan French, Danny Pannell, Reese Patton, Curtis Cheuvront, Heath Blair, throw in Steve Farley who picked up 4 points in the JV game last night ( if I missed anyone I apologize) ... add these freshmen/sophs to the returning nucleus on varsity sophomore Dylan Leffingwell, juniors Tyler Ward, Jeremy Hastie, Josh Winland, Jace Knost, Austin Henthorn, Bradley Proctor ... a true TEAM coming back for Coach Maddox in the 2011-12 campaign ... look for next seasons' Warriors to IMPROVE on the 17-3 record of 2010-11 ...
... that's what pfloyd saw/sees through his bifocals while feeling "Comfortably Numb" reflecting on the Warrior game last night vs PHS from the "glass half full" perspective ...
