Tribe, do not take this the wrong way as I think Big Jake is worthy/deserving of being on the all-league roster also but then so was a couple other boys from different teams. If Peebles has 4 again then Ripley gets 4 and that means Manchester gets 3, that is (11 out of 15) total spots. Also you can not compare this years numbers to all-league players from last year because it a new league year and new league players/stats/ accross the board also numbers do not always tell the whole story regarding a players worth.TribeManiac10 wrote:Anyone have stats for DJ Iles. Im just kinda confused as to how Jake Daniels didnt make the squad averaging 11.1ppg(3rd on the league champion/ranked in the state Peebles team), 7rebs(first on the team), 2.5blks(2nd in the league), and shooting nearly 60% from the field(First on the team...possibly tops in the league).
Im a little biased but I believe this compares pretty favorably with how a few players, both of which made the all-league team, did last season:
Eric Collier-10.6ppg, 7.7reb, .5blks, 60+%FG
Andy Countryman-8.4ppg, 2.8reb, 3.0assists, 39%FG

Seip should have made it this year.theuglytruth wrote:The Seip kid from Whiteoak could have also very easily made it. He was in double figures. The iles kid was easily Fatettville's best player and deserved to make it. He averaged around 12 ppg I believe and even though he is a freshman seemed to be there team leader. The Daniels kid did have a very nice year, but I would say the main reason he didn't make it was because Peebles already had 3 players selected.

Not necissarily. Peebles had 4 last season and the big division champs, Eastern Brown, only had two representatives. Also I believe intagibles to be just another reason to have him on the team....added to the fact that stat wise he is near the middle of the pack for those who did make it. His presence in the post is not something that cant always be added to a stat sheet. Im not going to pretend like I agree with how things shook out but I do have respect for the games of everyone that did make the list and I wish them luck with the rest of their season.peeblesfan97 wrote:Tribe, do not take this the wrong way as I think Big Jake is worthy/deserving of being on the all-league roster also but then so was a couple other boys from different teams. Tribe...I was not necessarily trying to change your point of view, just simply looking at it from a different point of view to come up with a reason why Jake was not included, and as I said before I think Jake should have made the roster also. He came into the season with almost zero varsity experience and seems to get better with every game. Jake should be a force next year IMO.

I also believe he is the youngest player I listed above. He has the potential, and with everything he is planning on participating in over the summer(aau/camps/personal training/etc.) I think he really has an oppurtunity to take himself to the next level.peeblesfan97 wrote:Tribe...I was not necessarily trying to change your point of view, just simply looking at it from a different point of view to come up with a reason why Jake was not included, and as I said before I think Jake should have made the roster also. Re: SHL All League Team?
If the player from Fayetteville really only averaged 12 a game on a 2-18 team I would say he took the last spot on the all-league team and I would bet it was very close for that last spot. Not every team is always represented as West Union has has nobody make all-league two out of the last 3 years. I dont have a problem with this as I dont believe All-League should be a charity case - it should be the best 15 players in the league regardless of anything else.
Re: SHL All League Team?
one way every team could be represented would be to add honorable mention where each coach could add a player to honorable mention. i know there is some politics involved but coaches cannot vote for their own players. i know of another league that picks a player of the year and player a and
player b were very close and the coach of player a failed to vote for player b on the first team so his kid could get player of the year. that is why i agree with not having an official player of the year so politics are not so apparent. it is kind of like the seeding process which many times is a total joke because of politics.

sparky.... you seem like someone who could possibly answer this question for me...... I posted on the girls forum and asked the question of if a coach was allowed to vote for their own players ( thank you for answering that haha), now I'm wondering if it says a player got 6 out of the 9 votes then why did they not make the list? That's a majority of the votes right, so I guess I don't understand how the votes are totaled??
Re: SHL All League Team?
some leagues use a point system so in reality a player of the year would be the guy with the most points even if a league does not officially recognize a player of the year. if the shl does it this way i would think justice would get the most points. i would guess that tribe or chitwood would have access to voting results.
Re: SHL All League Team?
I try to stay out of that kind of thing as much as possible. I didn't know any of the voting results until I saw them on here yesterday.sparky wrote:some leagues use a point system so in reality a player of the year would be the guy with the most points even if a league does not officially recognize a player of the year. if the shl does it this way i would think justice would get the most points. i would guess that tribe or chitwood would have access to voting results.
