The Blue Devils will be very good this year. They have above average players with above average talent with above average coaches. That spells success!!!!!!!!

Only one problem! Will the new facilities be ready in time for the season openers?

It's supposed to be damp rhe remainder of the month. Construction crews lost a lot of good weather during the past nine or 10 months. Otherwise, the complex would have been done by now.

If officials don't have a plan B, it might be a long spring for GAHS athletes.

Took my monthly inspection tour of the sports complex... Things look a lot better.. The baseball & softball fields, track and tennis courts were all in use...
I could not see any trouble with the grass on the BB field... It looked like all the other grass in the area.. Talked to a player later and he said the problems were in the outfield around the warning track, area was holding water and could be unplayable ... A week of good weather would probably solve this problem.....LOL Only glaring problem I observed was the access bridge to the baseball & softball fields needed some type of guard rail or fencing to prevent people from falling into the creek... I am hopeful this problem will be addressed before the season starts... I am a little disappointed we will still be using Porta-Johns.......... But as a whole it will be a great facility for the games....

Blue Devils will be solid this season. With good pitching they should make a good run of it. They have good leadership with 9 seniors led by Denbow (ALL SEOAL), Shuggy Eastman( 2 time ALL SEOAL) AND Warnimont(ALL SEOAL). Also the team has several proven jrs. and several upcoming sophs with varsity experience. Offensively and defensively, they are very skilled. Keep the injuries minimal and steady pitching puts the Blue in the battle not only for the league but a showing in the tourney.

Hope we have great weather for this titanic struggle. It will be nice to play on a new field for the first time since 1950.

Blue Devils, posted a 6-2 win. The devils were crisp, for the
Intial outing , played under a very game like format
Early, the devils hit well, pitched well, and fielded well.
Justin Bailey started and threw 2 scoreless innings. He was
Followed by, Jimmy clagg ,Tyler eastman, Caleb warnimount
And Bryant Bokovitz who pitched the last two scoreless innings
All in all ,defensively the devils looked fundamentally sound.
Offensively, the devils defended the plate , as the first six batters
Singled to start the game. Timely hitting and limited k's were the
Rule of the day for the devils. The blue continue their preseason
With a game against minford at home on the 23rd, starting at 5pm.

Blue Devils got off to a nice start and never looked back. WCH had few base runners and I recall only 3 hits. GAHS pitching looked very good and defense was solid. I feel this team can only get better and better. Several pitchers including Bailey and Eastman pitched hitless ball. GAHS looked very relaxed and confident. I am looking forward to this season! Good Luck Blue !!

Weatherman says we have a severe storm warning in SE Ohio. Is the GAHS-Minford baseball scrimmage still on?

Despite partly clouded skies, 45-degree temperatures and windy conditions GAHS was able to scrimmage visiting Belpre Saturday afternoon on the Robert (Bob) Eastman ball field at Centenary.

The scrimmage lasted over three hours and both teams used numerous players in the practice tilt.

We left around 3:15 and GAHS had scored 20 some runs and given up five in eight or nine innings.

Coach Richie Corvin used five pitchers in the scrimmage--Jimmy Clagg, Brandon Taylor, Bryant Bokovitz, Tyler Eastman and Justin Bailey.

Gallipolis is scheduled to open its 2011 diamond season on Monday, March 28, beginning at 5 p.m. on Eastman Field. It will be the first GAHS game ever played on the Blue Devils new diamond, weather permitting.

Looks like March is going out like a lion. Hard to believe the 2011 season starts Monday. Weather permitting, GAHS will play away from Memorial Field since the 1950 campaign. The Blue Devils will host Eastern in a non-league game at 5 p.m. Monday in the new Bob Eastman complex at Centenary..
