Don't wanna be that guy but WOW the officiating was terrible tonight. On both sides so Im not saying the refs kept Warren in it but man was it inconsistent is all. Ill reflect more deeply on the game when I've had a day to digest it but I do want to say congrats to both teams and good luck to the Seniors at Warren who just played in their final games. They have probably been one of the more successful classes in school history and were some gritty, good, respected opponents every time I saw them play.

Survive and advance.

Chilli with turnovers and missed layups out the wazzou but find a way to pull it out with defense and making plays down the stretch. You have to convert the bunnies and you have to take care of the ball if you want to beat John Glenn they are well rounded and fundamentally sound.

Congrats Cavs on the win! i'm hoping that JR will come out on fire next game because they will need him and didn't have his touch offensively tonight but his aggression taking the ball to the basket in the second half tonight was pretty much the extent of the Chilli offense.

London was a monster on the boards and defensively but had 3-4 layups go in and out. He's got to finish stronger when not dunking. The cavs also have to learn that he's not going to block every single shot so even if you think he's going to block it, you need to box out. Too often they are standing around watching him block shots and when he doesn't get it the opposition is in perfect position to get on the O glass.

Overall not the best effort the Cavs could have, but they got it done. Warren is a scrappy team that can lull you into these types of games and beat you at their game. Congrats on a great season Warren! 20 wins is a great accomplishment.

OMG! What an ending to a great game! Malik with an heads up rebound to get the ball to an WIDE OPEN Max C. for a one footer as time expired....imo though being up 8 mid 4 quarter with a 8 to 2 foul advantage, the Cavs shouldve been on cruise control but made alot of mistakes that couldve lost the game for them..Zach Johnson is becoming a defensive nightmare for any opponent, the kid can really play some D being only a sophmore!Congrats to Warren on a great season!!! Is this Cavs team the new Cardiac Cavs! YES! LOL! GO CAVS SURVIVE & ADVANCE.......!

... great game played tonight to open up District Championship Weekend at the Convo as Chillicothe and Warren tangled for the 3rd time this season ... anyone making the trip to A'town was not disappointed as we were witness to some outstanding defensive play by both teams, a big Malik London slam, a gratuity Technical on the Warren bench resulting in the Cavs picking up 4 points in one trip down court with 4:15 to play , a gutsy Warren comeback from 9 down with 4:15 to play in the 4th, as well as the complimentary winning basket by Chillicothe's Max Cocoran with .4 seconds to play in the game to closeout the game ... Chillicothe 44 Warren 42 a final ...

...unbelievable - Warren finishes the season at 20-4 with 3 of their loses at the hands of one team - the Cavs of Coach Kellough ... 2 of the losses came on the last shot of the game - a Ragland trey at Warren and tonights buzzer beater by Max Cocoran with .4 seconds remaining ... heartbreak city for the Blue of Coach Maddox ...

... this one started out as a great "baseball game" as neither team could take the lid off the bucket in the opening quarter with any consistency ...Jeremy Hastie knocked down the Warriors only three balls of the game with 2 in the quarter for the Blue of Warren while Johnson for Chillicothe picked of a couple of buckets in the paint... neither was able to get their inside game going Venham for WHS and London for CHS found the lid screwed on tight ... Warren 9 Chillicothe 6 after one ... Quarter 2 saw Warren's Grant Venham finish the quarter with 3 straight baskets while the Cavs scored by committee as 4 players each picked up one fg ... Warren 17 Chillicothe 16 at intermission ... great defense ruled the 3rd as Malik London continued his domination in the paint on the defensive end blocking/altering almost every attempt by Warren to get to the rim ... as the only player to find any success below the blocks was Venham who picked up 3 more fgs to carry Warren ... Chillicothe was able to get their #1 offensive option Jalen Ragland loose for 5 points in the stingy defensive 3rd quarter ... Warren 25 Chillicothe 27 after three ... Chillicothe opened the final period in rhythm as Manion and Ragland hit for buckets in the first minute of action forcing Coach Maddox to burn a timeout with less than a minute off the clock - CHS 31 WHS 25 at 7:08 of the 4th ... defense remained the name of the game as the next 2 minutes were owned by the Cavs at both ends of the floor as Ragland & Co. continued to shut down the Warriors offensively while adding to their lead 34-25 with 5:08 remaining ... Warren began chipping away at the lead behind 6 points from Venham, timely foul shots by Cunningham closing the gap to 4 before a T was called on the WHS bench resulting in Chilli opening up an 8 point lead on the 4 point trip down court with 4:15 to play ... Austin Cunningham was able to pickup 5 points for Warren on timely drives to the hole and 3 FTs before Warren was able to finally get over the hump at the 2:30 mark of the 4th ... in a span of 10 seconds the Warriors converted a Cunningham FT - good, missed FT rebounded by Cunningham for a quick 2 points followed by an inbounds steal by Venham for a bucket Warren 39 Chilli 38 with 2:30 to play - time out Chillicothe ... Warren COULD have put this away as the Cavs fouled repeatedly ( Manion fouling out with 2+ to play) BUT as fate would have it the lid was on the Warren bucket in the 4th as time was running down - Warren went a dismal 7 for 16 from the line in the 4th quarter ... 1 for their last 7 FTs as the game was winding down ... fate seems to bite you in the ass more often than not when you are 7/16 at the FT line as the door was left open for Cocoran of the Cavs in the final seconds of the contest ... Chilliothe 44 Warren 42 a final ...

... pfloyd Official "unofficial" Napkin Stats for Warren ...

Scoring ... Grant Venham 20, Cunningham 11, Hastie 8, Ward 2, Leffingwell 1

3 pointers ... 2/12 ... Jeremy Hastie 2

FTs ... 10/21 ... 7/16 in the 4th period ... 1 for their last 7 in the 4th quarter ...

TOs ... 11

... pfloyd Official "unofficial" Napkin Stats for Chillicothe ...

Scoring ... Jalen Ragland 17, Johnson 9, Manion 8, Cocoran 4, London 4, I. Beverly 1

3 pointers ... 0/10

FTs ... 12/14 - the difference in the game imo

TOs ... 11

I want to congratulate Warren and Coach Maddox on a great season. I know they don't want to read or hear that right now but their kids played hard tonight and gave it everything they had.

Congrats Cavs on a great win over a great team. Good luck the rest of the way.

Congrats to the Warriors on a great season, nothing to hang your head about.

This speaks volumes again to why the SEOAL is so great. God I love this league. Cavs are left to carry the torch in D2 for the SEOAL, hopefully my Trojans can continue us in D3.

Again great game by both, Cavs just seem to know how to get it done in the last second against a great Warren team. The Warriors couldn't have come any closer to beating them without actually doing it in these last two meetings.

Warren goes 20-4 with 3 loses to the Cavs, and one to my Trojans. Someone tell me that doesn't show how strong this league, and how good the Warriors and Cavs really are. Congrats to both.

Sounds like an outstanding basketball game. Obviously tough for Warren missing those free throws down the stretch. You also have to feel for their seniors, lose by two to Chillicothe and by a point to Logan Elm last year in district title games. But still, an outstanding run for those kids.

Congrats to Chillicothe on the win. A good basketball team, again, getting some contributions from players not named Ragland or London. Not to downgrade those kids, they're good, but shows Chillicothe has a nine lineup and can get a litle production from its bench, too.

Great basketball game. Both teams played their hearts out from beginning to end. Congrats to Chilli and goodluck in Regionals. They are a very deserving district champion.
Tough loss for the Warriors but they had a great run. I want to wish the seniors all the best in where ever their lives take them. It was great to see Grant Venham playing with so much heart the last few games. Ohio U football is getting a quality young man. AC has been fun to watch...what an offensive talent. And to Hilvy, I have completely enjoyed watching you play defense over the years. Wish you still played baseball bud.

This game came down to what these young men practice every time they step onto the court, at school, or on the blacktop at home.....FOUL SHOTS.

Make em and move on, miss em and baseball season starts Monday.

Poor shooting by both teams. The last 3 minutes was the best part of the whole game. Speaking of the officials it seemed the one official made 90% of the foul calls and the T, then he'd want to explain the calls to the coaches. At least once Kellough pushed him away not wanting to hear him. Still a great 3 minutes to end the game. Great job by both teams sad that one has to end it's season. It will not be easy getting by John Glenn for Chilly but good luck.

Congratulations to the Cavaliers on their district championship........and also to the Warriors on a very fine season........both schools represented the SEOAL well.

I thought both teams played outstanding defense, but both teams also missed a bunch of close-in shots........Malik London came up with the rebound on Jalen Ragland's miss and fed Max Corcoran for the winning basket at the buzzer.

Warren defended Jalen hard, and Chillicothe defended Austin Cunningham hard as well.......Grant Venham had an outstanding game for the Warriors, while Zach Johnson led the Cavaliers in scoring at halftime. Ragland was outstanding knocking down FT's. Missed FT's really hurt Warren in the final quarter.

I feel for Coach Maddox and his kids, to come this close two years in a row to a district title........but they have a good program, and will be in the running for it again in 2012.

I am rooting for Chillicothe and Coach Kellough in the regional........CHS can make it to the state if they play on top of their game........and as a Portsmouth fan, I have seen the Cavaliers about 6 times this year, and they can play some very good basketball.

Free throws? Technical? You can blame whatever you choose....
Rolling out a District Title Game and You get Chili to start missing first 12 to 14 shots? A dream come true but Warriors chose Plan B and sticking with slow starting lineup that usually has them playing catchup like its been all year.
Id say Warren wins by double digits if you Start Strong and they come out up 10 and never look back by playing your best from the beginning and still get everyone plenty of minutes.
So Warrior fans go home heartbroken AGAIN and we can all second guess what the faults were...but bottomline is you win 20 games and you get (we should have.........).
Congrats to Chili but Warren has the stronger team but they dont make the right decisions as needed to get past this Title game, but yet Warren continues to have the athletes to get them close,so another season wrapped up and same result.
I apologize to the group of young men that has to continually go through this kind of experience until they graduate.
Good Luck Seniors in all that life brings to you and hold your head up high! It has been a pleasure to watch Mr. Cunningham,Mr.Venham, and Mr.Hilverding.
So Goodluck to Chili in there next level adventures as the Town of Vincent watches from home, scratching there heads and wondering WHY?
But the positive is, there will always be basketball, and the kids will still keep trying as hard as they can, and the sun comes out tomorrow! :|

I don't know what all the negativity is about by you man. This team plyed their hearts out and you have an excellent coach and program. I agree that if they had come out and gotten a 10 point lead and never looked back they would have won. Duh. If anyone gets a 10 point lead and doesn't look back they will win. What are you saying? That your coach told them not to get a lead early? They played well, had some things go for them and had some things go against them. To say that they have the stronger team when they were 0-3 against Chilli is a bit bold regardless of whether they were close games. Just appreciate the hard work of everyone in the pprogram and congratulate them on the most successful season in school history.

Exactly...I have never in my life seen so many people put a negative spin on a season for these young men to be proud of. 20 wins, never accomplished, a district final game against a very good Chilli team (losing on a last second basket). If I had a better English background I could come up with a better word to describe these people other than, well, you all know......

to say that they have the stronger team when they went 0-3 against them on the season is simply biased and ignorant.

Please don't let one sore loser spoil the reputation of a Warren program that i both respect and admire. That was a great group of kids they put on the court that had an awesome season. Those kids lost by a hair to one of the better teams in the area, they should hold their heads high. Best of luck to all those kids in their future endeavors.

:aaaaa83 Hey...Guess who....Mama in the ref uniform...a.k.a...AC's mom.Love me or hate me,you'll never change me.I happen to love this game, and I adore my son.
You are right I have entertained the crowd for a few years,I have also ended up entertaining myself in the parking lot a time or two,it has always been in fun,and when the game is over...it's over.I have made several dear friends at rival schools, and hater or two along the way, which works out....as haters make ya famous. I have loved supporting the warriors of Warren, and witnessing a histortic 20-4 season with these boys. They have advanced to the convo all 4 years of their high school career, making it to the District finals the last 2,only to lose by a basket both times.I couldn't be prouder of each and everyone of these boys. And as my son days at Warren are numbered,I know that AC & Co. will never doubt who their biggest fan was.Best of luck to a awesome Chilli team, and if by chance you win the big dance,my son can dig out his Chilli State Champs shirt from 2009,and pay his respects once again......I am gonna miss this. :aaaaa93
