Thomas Taggert(Nelsonville-York) signs with Mt. Union
Congrats on Nelsonville-York Senior Thomas Taggert who sighned to play for Mt. Union. Thomas was an outstanding O lineman for the Buckeyes and he will be missed. Good luck as a Purple Raider!!!!

Congrats! Where did his old man go to college at? In my days watching them the best QB Nelsonville has had....

He will also have some competition. I count 57 freshmen on the roster on the website (last season? next season?). Hope he sticks it out. His daddy played BBall at Tiffin I believe.

Sorry, but I do not think Thomas Taggart has what it takes at the next level. It is great that he was recognized by Mount Union, but seeing his performance against teams clearly better than Nelsonville-York i.e. St. Clairsville and Minford he just didn't seem to have what it takes to make it at the next level. Not trying to put the kid down, just stating my opinions on how he'll do at the collegiate level.

Let the kid get coached, get in the weightroom, etc. and I am sure he will be successful. Unfortunately at Mount they bring in 150 freshmen a year, so maybe he'll transfer and start somewhere else! Best of luck to him and playing four years of college football in any role is one heck of an accomplishment! I hope more Buckeyes and SE Ohio players follow his example! Go Bucks!

St. Clair and Minford is how you are going to judge a kid. If you see the film you can see he has the talent.
If I recall the Buckeyes did run the ball pretty good against St. Clair. Turnovers and penalties killed the Buckeyes
against St. Clair. They moved the ball 3 times into St. Clair territory and later scored on just about all runs in the 2nd half. Minford, game was about the same. The Buckeyes moved the ball but cound not put it into the end zone.
Both games came down to throwing just about everyplay. Minford and St. Clair did a great job of taking away what
NY did best in the air. Once both teams were up, game plans had to change. Taggert is 6'4 285 lbs and still growing.
He is in the wt room everyday. He will only get better. I'm not saying he is going to go up there and start, but his goal should be just to make the Jr. Varsity team. You can't judge a person on two games that the Buckeyes lost, get real!
Do you think Mount Union was the only team knocking at this boys door!
