When you go to the site, just put in your schools name and then select football and it will show you the 2011 schedule.

Also, Alum according to the OHSAA site this Cincy team is only playing 5 games as of right now.

If they are not a member will this drop our level 2 divisor to 90 instead of 100, or will it drop to 95 since they play 5 teams?

I still don't like this.

Did a little more research, seems that Cincinnati CPA, plays a few teams that also play local teams. They are Oyler which plays Notre Dame, Grove City Christian who plays East. No offence to ND or East, but PHS shouldn’t be playing them either. However the website also Grove City Christian playing 12 games, so obviously this isn’t set in stone, I really hope this is some type of computer error, or something.

I have been one on here that has been very vocal, about PHS having a far tougher schedule then most area teams in the past. Although the remainder of our 9 games are all very tough teams, and quality programs with 3 division 2 schools, 3 division 3 schools, 2 division 4 in West and Ironton, and D5 Burg, I would still prefer not to have any D6 schools on our schedule, let alone one of this caliber. It would be different if we were playing a St. Johns, or Mogadore, but we are not. Again I don’t think many others play anything close to our remaining 9 games, but this one just doesn’t make sense. I’ll be there either way, but I don’t like this one bit.

Below I have given, current as of 2010 SEOAL, teams and how they fared against each other, and their winning percentage. I didn’t do Logan’s because obviously they are the top dog. However PHS beat two other SEOAL members, and are within 3 percentage points of Gallia Academy. Top of the heap, no but not the bottom feeder you make PHS out to be. Obviously PHS has been in a down cycle, since 04 unfortunately about the same time we enter the SEOAL. PHS, record against the SOC elite has not been impressive through that stretch either. However from 1999-2002 PHS was undefeated in the regular season, against the SOC, so it is clear that that we haven’t played our best ball while in the league. My point is PHS just happened to enter into the SEOAL, at a time when the cupboards were not over flowing with talent. In high school sports these go in cycles, PHS will be back, and will compete for SEOAL titles, just give it time.

WOW, a D6 school,,,,GREAT JOB AD for PHS....What were you thinking?? The Trojans would be better off having a couple days off and rest at that time of year instead of playing Cincy Prep! IMO
Just read the above posts....I just do not what else to say......wipalawalt :=(

.

Although our percentage is only 39, we are still higher than 2 others, so we are not the bottom as you said, and are not far off of Gallia Academy.
Ironton, Chillicothe, Gallia, were regularly on PHS’s schedule before entry into the SEOAL, so how would leave the SEOAL help?

Since 2000 PHS is 6-5 vs Chillicothe, and 2-3 in SEOAL, very competitive.
10 chilli
09 PHS
08 Chilli
07 PHS
06 Chilli
05 Chilli
04 Chilli
03 Chilli
02 PHS
01 PHS
00 PHS

Since 2000 PHS is 5-8 verse Ironton. Not a winning total, but still competitive, and I would imagine better than most against the Fighting Tigers.
10 Ironton
09 Ironton
08 Ironton
07 PHS
06 Ironton
05 Ironton
04 Ironton
03 Ironton
02 PHS
02 PHS
01 Ironton
01 PHS (playoff)
00 PHS
Since 2000 PHS is 3-3 against Jackson, and 2-3 in the SEOAL. I included the scores of some of these games, to illustrate what a competitive series it has been between the Trojans and Ironmen.
10 Jackson
09 Jackson 27-26
08 Jackson 21-20
07 PHS
06 PHS 21-19
00 PHS

Against Gallia since 2000 PHS is 2-5, but 2-3 in the SEOAL. Not very good, against the Blue devils, but have been competitive in the league with them only trailing by one game.
10 Gallia
09 PHS
08 Gallia
07 PHS
06 Gallia
03 Gallia
02 Gallia

PHS is 4-1 against Warren, another competitive series.
10 PHS
09 PHS
08 Warren
07 PHS
06 PHS

PHS is 2-1 against Marietta for another winning series.
10 PHS
09PHS
08 Marietta

We have not been able to post a victory, against Logan since entering the SEOAL, however the Chieftains have only loss 3 games in SEOAL play since we joined, so nobody else has faired very good against them either. While Zanesville was in the league, PHS also failed to be them, however they are no longer in the SEOAL.

Lets recap, PHS has winning or split series with Chillicothe, Jackson, Warren, and Marietta (will not be in the league in 2011), are one game behind Gallia and a losing record against Ironton ( no longer in the league) and Logan. So basically PHS is competitive, with all remaining teams besides Logan, but again the Chieftains have only lost 3 in the 5 years the Trojan have been in the SEOAL, so nobody else competed with them either. The Chieftains will return to the pack though, as again these things go in cycles.
So how exactly are we a bottom feeder? Is it because we have winning or split series with the majority of teams? Is it because we are competitive with Gallia, even though we trail in the series? Is it because we much like everyone else is Southern Ohio couldn’t defeat the Chieftains when they made their run of successful seasons?

It is also not every 10 years or so, PHS from 97-2002 never finished less then 5th in the region, made 4 consecutive trips to the post season, a regional title, an AP State title, 2 regional runner up finishes, and had a record of 57 and 13. After that point we have had some down years, because the talent has not been there like it was, but have still made the post season in 04, 07, and posted a 7 win season in 09. Obviously we have had a down cycle, but still have been able to produce 3 good seasons during the down cycle. PHS’s talent level will raise again, and with it the victories also.

D6 school? There are only a handful of D6 teams in the state that could challenge Portsmouth, but this isn't one of them. Was this really the only school they could find to play that week? No one in Kentucky/West Virginia?

I thought that we only had a two year contract with Wilmington! Did we renew it?

I believe it is, 2010 was the first year of it. They took South Points place from the 2009 season.

I know it’s because we had to fill the void of Marietta dropping out of the SEOAL, but as I said Columbus Bishop Watterson has this date open, did we even contact them? No one else in WV, KY, IN, or just take a week off.

maybe you should contact Joe and get some information before you downgrade the decision, Im guessing that any opponent such as Watterson would become a Road game with nothing coming back to the Trojans coffers.Even if the contact would have been made, what does Watterson have to gain by playing a Div 4 team from southern Ohio? It is never as easy as it seems from the cheap seats, filling an open date is sometimes impossible within a two year scheme, nobody wants a one and done road game, everyone wants a home and home meeting. Im sure if you contact Joe he will answer any questions you may have

Watterson is only a d3 school, ( although normally play up) I would think they would prefer to have a game with us as opposed to an open date but maybe not, as they only had 9 games last season. We tend to carry a decent amount of points if we win games, because of the schedule we play, so with only being a division lower, we would not hurt their playoff chances.
I’m sure Joe did whatever he and Clifford felt was best for the schedule. I merely asked if we contacted Watterson, or teams in WV, KY, or IN. Sorry if this upset you, but I was only asking where else we tried to find a game before picking up this one? I’m sure Joe, or Clifford would tell, me I however have not had a chance to see either of them since I read this. Thought I would ask on here though and see if anyone had more information, I thought that’s what this forum was for. Isn’t it here for conversation, and to ask questions about local high school athletics?
