Is this counting freshman?
I have been to every game that Marietta came to Logan over the last decade and nowhere near fifty ball players in any of those years.

Can't believe it's 6 days till the first game. Crazy that's it's already a new season. Really excited to see what Coach Springer has prepared for us

Ok the team looked strong in the early going vs the monarchs. It was tuff to follow for a while. There was no clock operating and they had a nice scoreboard and bit tv on it but they did not even use the clock on it. There were a few turnovers for both teams. The tigers tanner leach scored first then the John Marshall then baker scored then John marshall. It looked like from then on the tigers started moving some kids in and out trying new things and John Marshall added 2 more scores. They called it a half I guess then the younger kids took over. I left but from what I understand the jv team kicked but. I think all and all the tigers have had a great "pre-season". Still things to fix but the passing game is looking nice the futty, wright connection could give some teams fits with the running game the tigers should have. I'm very proud of all the hard work the kids have put in. I wish the team all the best.

Does anyone know the projected starting lineups on both sides of the ball other than Futrell at QB and Baker and Gearhart somewhere in the backfield? Thanks!

From what I know from my Grandson who is on the team, it's the "good ole money club" in the football program this year. All of the boys who have shelled out the money got their boys a starting postion. The coaches are telling the kids, "We only want you to play one way." Instead, some of the hardest hitters and best defensive players are sitting the bench. Why? Oh, so the "good ole boys" kids can play. Ask any player who the hardest hitters are, then ask them where they play. Oh that's right, they aren't. Marietta is never going to change..it's how much money you have. Wait, you can also get a starting position by sucking up to the coaches. Come watch this Friday as the Tigers take on Morgan. Morgan is going to run all over the Tigers. Their best defensive player, Baker, is playing safety. He should be a linebacker. There are 4-5 players sitting the bench that should be on the field. Good luck boys, you're gonna need it! It's really sad that you can still buy your spot. Maybe after they are getting plowed over, some who really deserve to play, might see some playing time.

Only a full season will tell the full story. Yes, they will miss E.P., M.M. and K.J. but look at the big picture, the sophomore class is loaded and if better than sr. and jr., they should be on the field! As for Baker at safety, I had the pleasure to watch someone named Bobby Hoying (6'5" 220lbs)[remember him] 3 times in high school. He played safety also, and was the best athlete on the field EVERY time. As Baker could be most times. Allow the coaches to impart their philosophies. This could be a good season for the tigers especially with the excitement of a new league!

Easy fb fever! Kimbrough and Leach will log heavy minutes this year. As for Morgan laying the wood on Marietta, read some of the MVL posts. They are waaaaaay down. Tigers should come out with a lot to prove to themselves and the fans.

I also heard there are some others other than Kimbrough and Leach that aren't starting defense that should be...who knows, by week 2 that should change if my facts are straight, ugly looking situation as of now.

My son will be out on that field on Friday. Wishing him the best of luck and the rest of the Tigers too. Here's hoping for a great season.

Football Fever- I've been to two of the three scrimmages and I have no idea what you're talking about. What I have seen is the coaches playing alot of players in different positions to see how they fit. Leach isn't playing Friday because of a personal issue (he is a GREAT KID!!!!) EK is having some physical issues that may limit the amount of time he can play. Hate it or not, and I'm not saying the sophmore class is any better than the other classes, but there will be alot of sophs playing. Which is good for the program.
Here's wishing the best for ALL the young men Friday.

kimbrough has lost almost 15 pounds since two a days started-
I think his health is more important than starting both ways-
to me he is the glue that holds the o-line together
as far as baker playing safety that is to keep lineman and backs off of him so he can stay healthy
the money thing is a crock!
i know one kid who starts both ways does not have a car or a phone!
yeah he bought his way on the field?

Tanner told me yest that he is not playing because he hurt his knee.Coaches told him Morgan is not good and its not worth risking it.Morgan beat a pretty goodD6 Caldwell team 7-6 in 2 qts. They are not great but are improved from last season.

Your an idiot. Stay away from the program. Its guys like you that have ruined Marietta Football for years. It's not a "good ole boy" club. The generous individuals who gave big money have zero players starting varsity ball. They just want the program built the way a winning program needs to be. As for sucking up, if you want to call hard work from a small handful of parents sucking up then its your right. But I can tell you Coach Springer is giving every kid out there a chance to shine and a chance to earn a starting spot.
Instead of complaining, give your grandson some contructive advice, but Im sure your just going to keep complaining and trying to live your pathetic life through him. I would bet my 401 that we bet Morgan tonight. I will have a tiger shirt on tonight if you want to find me :122245

GO TIGERS
