taft 95 central catholic 52
Re: taft 95 central catholic 52
Taft was only 4 boys away from being DII. With the recount this year, they could move up for next year.

Taft is an AAU all star team which shows by the fact that they had maybe 100 people in attendence Saturday. This was the worst year I can remember, it seemed like nobody was there and scalpers lost their butt, which i felt was funny. The teams with actual support that were there were what I liked the best. Portsmouth/Hiland/Contenental/Houston/Hartley/Garfield Heights/La Salle.......all of these teams had a great following and that is what it is all about. City league teams and private schools typically don't have support because the kids playing for them aren't really from that community.
What I really did not like about the taft game was the fact that he still had some of his starters on the floor in the fourth and he was pressing with a fifty point lead through the third quarter, I thought it was classless.

The sad thing is that most of them didn't lose there butt because they didn't pay a dime for there tickets, there school did. They just didn't make a profit off of them which is what I love to see.newlex/sheridan wrote:Taft is an AAU all star team which shows by the fact that they had maybe 100 people in attendence Saturday. Unless the OHSAA does something about these schools putting an all star team together, then what the teams in that division should do when they know a team will be loaded, like Taft will next year, is not show up to play any of there tourney games. Let the OHSAA see just how much revenue they would lose and then maybe they will rethink things.

I saw Taft beat a Ripley team, which could have contended for a district title in the southeast region, by nearly 60 in their sectional last season. A majority of D3 teams in the state would have been beaten like CCC was.KVDW wrote:I never made it to the game but I heard CCC was WAAAY OVER RATED.

No matter how dominant, a team usually needs some good fortune on the way to the championship. Taft was leading Summit by 2 points in their regional final and Summit had the ball with around ten seconds to go before turning it over. NCH had some good luck late against Ironton a few years back. And Africentric trailed 52-50 in their semi battle with Taft. Taft would be favorites if they remain DIII, but there will always be challengers.
