I am still very upset that Kite has been fired. However for the kids sake I am going to be positive going forward. The board meeting is monday and a decision must be made then. I think it will be lawhorne. Hopefully he will start open gyms right away. He will need to find a coaching staff and they must get busy catching up with the schedule for the summer. I do think he can do a great job.

I was told that Lawhorn pulled out his application, any truth to this?

Off the subject, does anybody know Western's non-league schedule for next season? There should be 4 games not counting the Holiday Tourny.

Will be interested in seeing peebles reaction to lawhorne coming in with the indians. I do think he left in good standing.

Well tonight is the board meeting! Lawhorne will be hired and hopefully be at school tommorrow starting to get to know the boys. I wanted kight to stay but i must be honest if he wasnt going to, then lawhorne is the right guy for a few years. He is obviously very knowledgeable, should be a positive force, and will instill fundamentals in the lower grades. I am excited about the possibilities. One question? Anybody have any idea who will be the JV coach. Is there any good choices available. Obviously it will be john's choice, but does he have someone he will bring with him or is there someone in the system who he could groom.

You feel the same way I did when Peebles hired Lawhorn.. They should have never let Doug Mcfarland go,,But if they were not going to hire McFarland back then Lawhorn was the best man for the job..

Ok another board meeting has come and gone . No coach no direction ! 7 weeks left till July 1 which is no contact for a coach and his players . This coaching move was supposed to be made for the benefit of the boys which by the way have no coach no weight room no open gyms and no one careing enough to give them the courtesy of letting them know there future. Just blowing them off cause they are kids. I thought all this was supposed to be for them so why the silent treatment . You mean to tell me after all this know one knows what's going on !! Someone needs to talk to these boys they deserve that at least !! They are your present and your future ! Let's treat them with a little bit of understanding.

Something just doesnt seem right with Lawhorne not being named coach by now. Think about it! If he was completely serious about taking the job dont you think they would have hired him by now?

No word yet but I'm thinking the board can't meet more than once a week so maybe Monday something will be heard.

Word around town is that Lawhorne turned them down. Told them he didnt want to be a part of all the controversy. Jordan pulled out because he couldnt get the school to give him insurance. Now what is our illustrious board going to do. It is now May 13th and we dont even have any more candidates. UNREAL.

Ok so that leaves us no one? Just suck it up and bring Dave back in! He is already there, summer league is paid for, he will start immediately and try to make up for what we have missed. You tried something different and it didn't work! Just get him back so these boys can get started. At this point he is the most qualified. No former coaches that are interested has any better record than he has had over his 4 years between JV and Varsity! Get him back in the gym for these kids!

July1st is not the dead period. However, the BOE should be ashamed of themselves for what they have done to this program over the past 5 years. Personal issues should not control the voting. What is best for the kids should be the sole intention of a BOE member but we know in the small towns it is alway about personal agendas. Not the BOE has egg all over their face, with no water to wash it off..... SAD.

If I was Kight I wouldn't want it back after all of this. He wasn't good enough for them two weeks ago so why is he now? Being hired as the after thought he will just be back in the same position next spring.
