Thought we could start a thread to see how football will be affected next season by failure of levies: Post any school that the board said would cut sports if the levy failed and/or any school that would have open dates: For example:
Johnstown-Monroe plays Utica and Northridge who both failed levies and have promised no sports (they could just have threatened and go to high pay to play).
As of now Johnstown could have open dates:
Week 7 and Week 10

Re: Levies
The Vincent Warren Local School levy is failing by 52 votes. There are 109 provisional votes yet to be counted and 50 absentee ballots not received yet. The BOE already approved pay to participate at $100 per sport with no exceptions or multi-sport or multi-athlete discounts. They also approved reducing staff by I believe 2 coaches. :122247
Re: Levies
I believe that, with the high gases prices, there will be an increase in the number of schools that institute a pay to participate policy. $100 per sport sounds like a lot of money to pay, but that $100 comes nowhere near the cost for transportation to and from the athletic competitions. It sucks, but that's the way it is.

Re: Levies
$100 dollars seems small when you hear that Pickerington schools are making their kids pay $500 with a cap of $1000 total per athlete for the year. Outrageous. Our school funding issues are a joke, why would you cut funding to those places who educate our future?

Re: Levies
Each of us should do our part to fix all of these necessary levies, cuts etc and call or email our reps, get the funding issue fixed.
I did this morning and it started like this:
I bet if he got 200-300 of these a day, it might become important enough to him to push for it.

I saved it as well and will send it everyday until it is fixed.Mr. Thompson,
Marietta City Schools levy has passed to make up for the money lost with Govenor Kasich's budget cuts to education. Now I have done my part as a temporary fix and voted yes for the emergency operating levy. Now you need to following the ruling of the state Supreme Court in the DeRolph IV of 2002, the fourth time it was ruled unconstitutional, and get it fixed.
You getting my vote when you run for re-election depends on it. Fix it and you can go back to Columbus, if it not fix, pick up a Marietta City Council application, you will be done in Columbus.
