i forgot about monroe central is returning CJ Wise , he's about 6'5 with a decent frame . i know they lost Shane Highman in the post but i didnt think he was much of a fator, but im not sure who all is comming back from that team. Wise is a big boy with some good talent , he could be up there for most dominant post player.

lol if it wasnt for Svercek and Hesson , they would be . i think the pvc will be extremely young this year . not much senior talent out there.

It will be young. There are some really nice sophs in the league and the incoming frosh class is strong as well from what I've been told. Caldwell will have Wiechman at point with Svercek and Hesson on the wings. They will have Croucher and Sawyer in the post. Nice starting five for the Redskins next year, they will be competitive.

Hesson,Sawyer, and Croucher don't impress me much.I think Drew Rucker has a lot more potential.

if hesson developes , he could be a really really good player . he is a good bit taller than shon smith , i got to put hesson on my pre-season all pvc list . i have no idea who this Wiechman kid is . is he the real short squirrely acting one that played JV ?

Caldwell will lack a pure scorer. I'm not really sure any of those guys are all that great at creating their own shot.

The real short kid your thinking of is Tyler Wiley.Anyone Hesson is not a great shooter and makes dumb fouls. Not sure what he does well.Drew Rucker can score and dribble.Eli can score but can not create his own shot.Sawyer is real slow and will struggle to guard the open post.I can't see Hesson even being a top player on his team.

Re: Pioneer Valley Offseason BUZZ
Saw Caldwell a handful of times last year, related to the coach. They improved a lot from start to finish. Was told that Sawyer has benefited from some extra time and dedication in the weight room with the new football coach this spring, dropping about 15 pounds and moving better. I think Hesson does some nice things defensively. He has a lot of work to do on the other end of the floor but he is a 6'2 guard which allows for some flexibility. Eastern, while I agree that Croucher is not a "skilled" basketball player he brings toughness, defense and hustle to that team. He does a lot of little things that go unnoticed, he is a very important role player. Was the Rucker boy the skinny kid off the JV team? If so he can shoot it but he is extremly weak.
Style, the squirrely one was Willey, not sure if they will get anything out of him at all at any point. Wiechman is the 5'9 freshman pg that split time between the varsity and reserve teams last year. By the end of the season he was probably their best actual basketball player. He is lightening quick and good with the ball, the one guy that can get his own shot. He and Svercek will compliment each other nicely. Depth will be a huge issue with this team. After the first five you only have two possibilities for any sort of playing time with the abrams kid and maybe rucker. They will be competitive, IMO. They also have a tremendous freshman group coming in along with a solid 8th grade group following them. The future is bright for that program.

Re: Pioneer Valley Offseason BUZZ
i just think that Hesson has all the intangibles to make him a good player . He's big , lanky, and very athletic . he comes from a big basketball family in caldwell and i think he will improve over the summer . He's a lefty which can make him hard to cover if your not used to playing against lefthanded people . i just think he has potential. Croucher on the other hand i think is as weak as a box of kittens . Sawyer might not be as quick but is alot more physical and can shove people around .

Re: Pioneer Valley Offseason BUZZ
haha.....I think if Croucher is as weak as people say Caldwell might be in trouble, he is probably their most aggressive defender. I do agree with part of the garbage term, he is a "garbage player" that meaning that the young man, while maybe not the most skilled contributes through defense, hustle, screening, rebounding and put backs. Also, wasn't he player of the game against the Zeps this season? The P.V.C should be interesting this season. New coaches replacing established veterans and a solid senior class moving on to other things. Has Shenandoah hired a coach yet? Was told the current frosh coach is in consideration. How about the Cadets and their candidates? Any news?
