Athens High School Field Renovation

[A-Town Big Dog]

The AHS field renovation project is going quite well. The new turf field has been installed, the yardage markers and field lines are complete, the endzone lettering is finished and as of today the Bulldog logo has been placed at midfield. The crew also started installing the new visitors side bleachers today. The new pressbox and concession stand are well underway and the new block wall surrounding the facility is coming along nicely. The field should be complete by the first of the week allowing installation of the new running track to begin. I will try to post some pictures as soon as I get time.

Did they install it with those annoying soccer lines, or is it truly a football-only marked turf?

There are soccer lines on it, but they are black (not bright yellow) and do not go thru any of the lettering or logos. I was told today that the field part will be finished completely by week's end.. They really did do a great job on the field design. It will be a great memory for this Fall's seniors to be the first group to play on it.

It does appear that the field will be done according to the Wellston HS web site. That is a ton of work to do in a short time and will be an impressive feat.

don't hold your breath on Wellston getting turf just yet. Just sit back and wait and see. Maybe maybe not. Whatever they do it will be a major improvement.
