Western basketball 2011-2012
Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
Yeah, theyre schedule does no favors for a team trying to gain some confidence. But they will get some wins this year. No doubt.
Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
I hope so I'm excited for the boys as the younger players I anticipate seeing varsity Shanks,Riggs,Garritt,Brewster get adjusted to the varsity game(speed, and strength) of the opposing teams we could put together some wins. So far this year I am very impressed with the younger kids and our team chemisty is off the charts with the boys. Coach Jordan with his knowledge of the game and the dedication of these boys could have a respectable season.

That's a nice schedule, I always like to see it when schools aren't afraid to have a tough non conference schedule. Especially when you can get those games in early in the year, take a beating or two and be much better for it by tournament time.lightle04 wrote:Here's our schedual

Pretty tough schedual for a very young team again this year. The Holiday classic first game is us vers. waverly. Looking forward to seeing the boys in action this year a little different style of play this year and some much needed depth this season could be a fun team to watch with the changes in style that Jordan has made but once again we are young. Hope to see you all at the games this year . GO INDIANS !!!!!!!!

Larry Jordan will lead your program in the right direction. He will never dodge teams on the schedule. He will play anyone anywhere. In the end Western basketball will benefit from this. Goodluck to you guys.

Could you post a roster? Do they have much height, speed, etc?lightle04 wrote:I would also like to give a shout out to all the boys that made the team this year. You guys did a great job this summer and have worked hard for coach Jordan. GO INDIANS !!!!!!!!!
Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
They are not huge but much bigger than last year with 4 kids 6'3 to 6'5 and they go 10 deep this year which is a big change from last season and 6 returning players with varsity time under there belt. And some very talented freshmen. Should be competitive this year within our league.
Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
Well against Zane Trace tonight in 8 quarters of play the boys tied 1 and won 3. They showed signs that they could be a pretty decent team we had some shots that were forced by some of the older boys still classing back to last year I think when shot attempts and team points were few. I'm very optimistic right now about the season ahead not sure where Zane Trace is predicted to finish in there league but the boys held there own against a D-3 school so that in it's self excites me . Coach Jordan has brought the boys along way since the begining of the summer. I hope the boys understand the improvement they showed tonight if they keep working hard who knows what they can do. GO INDIANS !!!!

Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
Lightle I completly agree. After watching them be very competitive tonight against a good zane trace team I am very excited. They competed, passed well, defended, and missed a ton of open shots that will eventually start falling with a little bit of confidence. I am actually believing they can go 500 or better.

bengalfan. Zane Trace should play 14 league games. I can see them being 500. 500 in the svc would mean competeting for a league championship in soc 1. Lots of small schools who struggle to find enough athletes just like us. I think we can be competitive which is a major improvement from last year.

Unioto, Piketon, Huntington, and SE all finish higher. ZT may get one
Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
Well where ever Trace finishes it's been two years since my son has got to feel what it feels like to be competitive in a scrimmage or game and after tonights performance I am optimistic about the up and comeing season for the Indians. The boys moved the ball well 99% of the time there were a couple force shots but they will get that fixed. And the defense was very active . And I was impressed with the rebounding maybe more than anything else they were out sized at every spot but boxed out better than I have seen since the 09 team that went 15-5 in league play and won a sectional title and went district final . There impressive so far can't wait for them to get some more min. under there belts. Could make a little noise in our league at least be a competitive team.

Agree completely about the freshmen. Saw a lot of talent outta them against ZT. Didn't get to watch much reserve though, so can't comment on them. The freshmen kids need to realize one thing. They ain't playin with little boys no more! They need to play stronger and get in the weight room as much as Coach will let them. If ya add some bulk to the Shanks kid and the Garritt kid, well boys, we might just have ourselves a team this year!lightle04 wrote:They are not huge but much bigger than last year with 4 kids 6'3 to 6'5 and they go 10 deep this year which is a big change from last season and 6 returning players with varsity time under there belt. I also hope the injury bug doesn't hit us again this year to. With the depth we have it could help us out alot by throwing fresh a fresh body at other teams .
Re: Western basketball 2011-2012
The boys are at west union wed.and at ports.west thursday . So if you guy are free come and watch then they are pretty exciting to Warhol this year. You won't be disappointed in them I know this for sure . GO INDIANS !!!!!!!!!
