Oh i'm sure Rossiter will still get his fair share of touches, but if you really want to go somewhere, you've got to have a balanced offense. They should try and get those shifty, speedy receivers in space and let them make a move. Little swing passes, out routes, slants, stuff like that. Almost like a west coast offense. Short to intermediate passes and let them get as many YAC as they can.stylepoints101 wrote:they need to develope a qb before they can attempt to have a passing game , they should stick with rossiter and kale rayner in the backfield as their primary offense. they have the wide outs but they need to work on croucher's arm . i seen buzz leasure play in a jv game last year and i would bet shenandoah's waterboy would have had a better idea of what was going on in that game than he did . lol

then Croucher would fit better in a west coast set . he is smart but doesnt have a good arm , but if he gains some experience completing those short passes then he could complement Rossiter well .

Re: Newcomerstown vs Caldwell Week 1
the skins aren't going to try and have croucher throw it down the field like sayre could last year... they'll use him more as a field general, someone to run the offense and manage the game... he can throw the short to intermediate passes and balance it up w/ rossiters run game... the skins also dont have the huge target that cody morris was for them last year, they do have 4, quick, senior wideouts that all bring speed to the table

Caldwell scrimmaged Belpre and Williamstown this morning. The defense didn't give up a score in either game and the offense scored several times in each game. Belpre ended the scrimmage early after suffering 2 injuries to varsity players.

Brother said croucher looked very good throwing the ball today. Said several wide outs made nice plays and rossiter made some plays on the ground as well. Pass D was the weakness.

Re: Newcomerstown vs Caldwell Week 1
The Journal has a preview of Caldwell this week. Believe the starting line-ups will look like this:
Offense
QB - Croucher
RB- Rossiter
FB - Rayner/ Van Meter will split time.
TE - Stoffel
WR - Hesson, Danford, Abrams, Border (all will split time)
C - Haas
G - Schenkel and Cubas
T - Sawyer and Magorien
Defense
Tackles - Sawyer, Cubas, Magorien, and Shuster
Ends - Schenkel, Van Meter, and Haas
LB's - Rayner, Stoffel, Haas, Hardesty, and Leasure
S - Croucher and Carpenter
CB's - Danford, Border, and Hesson.
Also said Rossiter may see some time at LB and in the secondary when needed.

Should have some good size up front. Haas at 180, Schenkel at 220, Cubas at 225, Sawyer at 265, and Magorien at 240. Shuster should be tough to move at tackle whenever he is in, as he weighs in at 320.

Heard from a lot of people that Caldwell did not look good vs Morgan losing 8-7 in the 2 varsity qts.Croucher therw 2 picks and a score.

Where on earth is Steely Dan? He's usually a wealth of info for games in this area.

Kinda pumped that football is finally starting back up again. I'll take Caldwell by 3 TD's.

Re: Newcomerstown vs Caldwell Week 1
NTOWN was bad. They have athletes but don't do anything with them. They were soft and quit. Game was 27-0 at half (actually should have been 34 as rossiter was in on the last play but the ref ruled him down). Could have easily been 50-0. Caldwell executed well, croucher played a nice ball game. recievers dropped a few balls too and a td pass was called back for a hold.
