Re: SG @ RV Jamboree Sat Aug 20th (AHHHHH FOOTBALL)
Wow! Total domination by the Rebels. Raiders just aren't in game form yet. Not enough time for Coach to make a real difference yet. I knee the Rebels would be much stronger, but I hoped our athleticism wiild prevail. There was some heavy hitting on the field tonight, mostly done by the Rebels. Cory Haner had some game! Jacob White was running through people. I think the Raiders will improve, but two of the same old problems persist; poor tackling and poor coverage deep. No
Push up front didn't help. I know the Raiders are well coached though. Just seemed like mass confusion for them out there.

18-6 rebels. Sg had 2 turnovers down close. I went to 1 Rv game last year and I liked new coaches excitement on sidelines. Huddled up kids and looked like he challenged them. Good luck coach.

SG just smashed the Raiders in the mouth.11 for the Rebels is a nice qb who made plays with his feet at times. Both teams overall speed was poor.Rebel have some strong big skills guys in 0 and 32.Raiders have a decent QB in 10 but he is inaccurate.34 for Raiders needs to run harder he is 2 easy to tackle.I watched FH and RV and the teams are pretty even.

both teams substituted the 2nd half, issac moss was at center the entire 2nd half until there were bad snaps in the last rv drive. marcum was hurt in the 2nd qtr so backups played for him, several played in the secondary.futurebkstar wrote:wow, I am at the game and there is 4:30 to go in the game and RV has yet to make any subs!!!!
South Gallia has been playing backups all 4th quarter.
South Gallia 18
RV 6

The reason I posted that is because someone wrote RV starters would play first half and another said RV might play one series of the 3rd quarter. Starting QB, RB, 3-WR, and most of the the other starters played the whole game. Just making a point so no excuses were made. Im am definitely not knocking RV just stating that SG is a better team. RV's new coach is very enthusiastic and they have improved. Also to make things clear, i have never qttended RV and it never even existed when I graduated. I graduated from HT in 1992 and have a right to my own opinion. South Gallia was better in all aspects of the game. Haner had an awesome game, White ran hard, Phillips looked good when he played, Spurlock is a man-child, and the matneys, cooper, baker, Fisher, and johnson, were beasts on defense. Hats off to the Noble kid because he is a playmaker. They just need to figure a better way to get him the ball. Once again, my game ball would go to Haner. Thats the best I have seen him play.

Blue nd gray, grow-up. Also stop making excuses! This has been part of the RV problem. We got beat. Now let's get better. We need to execute much better and get mentally rough. Sitting in an RV crowd is still the same. Many really don't care how we do. Just let Coach continue to implement his system and try to get better. Out starters played the whole game. We just got beat by a much stronger team with better execution. The new system will take tome. Ask Coach Eddy at Gallia Academy. We got beat. Let's own up to it and move on. Excuses will only hinder us.

Another successful Jamboree game. Between the basket bingo and the game, around $12,000 was raised for the new athletic complexes. That moves the grand total of all 3 games to ar$36,000. As for the game itself, I was really pleased to see how well the Rebels executed. Haner looks like a completely different players. He has worked really hard to get in shape and it showed big time with his scrambling. It's great to hear that neither team suffered any major injuries. Good luck to the Raiders this season! I think you have a coach that will get it done!

SG looked better than I thought they would. If the Rebels were a step or two quicker this year they wouldn't have a problem winning 8 games. Overall it was a good game and neither team shied away from contact.
Also Coach Saunders has to be in control of the offense cause the last time 4 and 5 wide sets were seen at SG he was the coach. Glad to see him back on the sidelines doing what he loves to do.

sg loked good running the ball, the passing game was not good. the one long completion was nice but overall haner tries to force the ball into too many tight spots.mercerville monster wrote:SG looked better than I thought they would. they look better throwing the ball short.
i was not impressed with overall team speed though,i thought both teams were pretty even in that catagory.

The Matney's have put on mass and have worked hard in the weightroom. It's not fat, trust me.

It was a scrimmage and both teams have a ton of work to get done before Friday! This one did not count, they count starting Friday! I am sure both coaching staffs saw what they needed too and will work to improve on the mistakes.

I agree with every statement you have made besides this one. Not even close.sg has the biggest and best team they possibly could have!
And the Matbey twins are nowhere near being fat. That size they have now is what a weight room actually does for you.
