Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
I honestly see this game being a complete blowout before halftime. I think Jackson will stomp the gas pedal until late in the game. Dont think the Jackson seniors havent been waiting for this game for a long time!
BUT.........
If Wellston pulls this one out, there may be some really cheap real estate for sale in Jackson come Sunday morning!

Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
shover isn't a running back anymore i just wanted to clear that up the players dont have the same numbers as last yearsteelcurtain44 wrote:Ok guys, without any bias or bs. let's have some input and opinion. Interested to hear some of your keys to this game. These are two teams that I believe both have alot of potential and could both be capable of winning the league. Jackson has alot of talent and even if you throw out the rivalry and emotion they are gonna be a handful for anyone on their schedule. They have some great backs in Ervin and Landrum and Landrum hasn't even came close to his potential, That kid is scary good with the heart of a lion. Their line will improve every game and I am glad we are catching them in week 1. They have a ton of potential and with Gould returning, If Gould stays focused, he is gonna wreak havoc on some defenses this year. Oj Barr and Tyler Jeffers are pure football players with a nose for the game and play it like it should be. Osborne has alot of talent and will improve every game, prolly a blessing we are catching him in week one, They have the ability to have a great passing game and if its clicking will be a rough game for any secondary. Some speedy lil guys they can run out of the backfield and Mcnelly has the potential to be very good. Wellston has a core group of players who have worked very hard and is a team with the potential to win the TVC-OHIO. The big thing will be health and depth. Offensively the line is sound, but not deep. The key for the offense will be ball control. They have some downhill runners in Prater, Roach and Wolford and Young plus The Downard kid is scary fast in the open field and Massie could create some problems in space. Prater is just a great kid with alot of heart and athletic abilty. Roach runs fast and hard, a kid with talent. Wolford has yet to reach his potential, A great kid with a big heart, good runner between the tackles. No one is sure how good Young is gonna be yet, but he has a ton of potential, if he gets some consistency he could be a handful. Brown is a very capable reciever and has looked very good at times and Shover has looked good coming out of backfield and is a great kid. Defensively the key will be the secondary. They are great kids, but will have to jam receivers off the line and try to keep behind them, which is is difficult to jam them and keep the min front of you. They should be solid against the running game with some very capable linebackers and D- Line. If the defense stays healthy and the younger kids keep improving they could have a very good season. I am positive I missed some things so lets hear some positive input, no slander or bias please. I hope for a competitive close well played game and great sportsmanship. Both teams have worked very hard. Best of luck to all the kids, they are what its about!!Ironmannut07 wrote:7 days.

Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
I'm with you ny 06 on the injury free game not on the wellston winning. IMO I think it's gonna be and ugly game with a lot of flags this rivalry got reignited last year with wellston winning then IMO one of there better players transferring out last year I think it's gonna get ugly real quick but then again everything could be just fine but I don't see that happening but I see Jackson winning big at home Saturday night. Let's go big red let's get the wheels turning early!!!
Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
only one transferred but wellston got wolford better than an even swap with cain only being a jr i hear he is a power house.
Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
Good point Zippy - let's call it even and leave these boys out of the debate. It's between the Jackson Football team and the Wellston Football team. May the best team win. GO IRONMEN !!!!!

Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
I am looking forward to a great game. I hope both teams have an injury free game. I agree that the Ironmen are the favorites but Wellston will come to play. As in most games turnovers and mistakes, will determine the outcome.

Re: Week 1 - Wellston at Jackson
I can't wait for this game! Jackson is gonna be tough to stop at alumni stadium, especially with revenge on their minds from last years only regular season loss. I will always pull for the rockets in this game, but it's going to be an uphill battle from opening kickoff. If wellston can limit mistakes and control the clock, I think they have a legit chance of winning a close game. If jackson starts fast and control the ball, I look for them to win big. As always, good luck to both squads and hope for no injuries!
Also, I seen on ohsaa.org that kickoff is 8 on saturday. Is this right?
