river valley pretty much dominated 22 mins of that game. I don't think south point got a 1st down until the 2nd qtr.
stuffed south point 3 shots from the 10 then turned the ball over with around 2 mins to go, not the same old RV raiders the new staff had them looking sharp, nice surprise

good job guys

I thought River Valley looked better than last year. Seems like they also had more boys out than previous years.

Agreed. SPs 2 scoring drives were 5 yards & something like 30 yards (at the very end). Were it not for the late turnover, it should have been 7-0 RV.
As for the conference, it looks like 1)Chesy 2)CG 3)RH 4)RV 5)SP 6)Fairland ...just my opinion...could easily be wrong

No disrespect to RV but South Point might field their worst team they have had in years.

Oh, okay. I heard different. A friend of mine from South Point said they thought they'd be better this year than the last couple of years. I don't really care one way or the other...just what I heard.

No disrespect to you futurebkstar, but with the program that RV has had over its history, and their track record in the OVC the last several years, POSITIVITY is exactly what the RV program needs right now. No matter what South Point's outlook is this season, any sign of improvement and positive play is exactly what the Raiders need.

Honestly, RV looked decent. Had a couple decent drives. They have alot of improvement up ahead, my hats off to the raiders. Goodluck to all ovc teams.

My take was,the River Valley team looked very organized, the Defense was 180 degrees better, they played together, stayed in their lanes actually looked like a pretty well coached team. I thought what the offense, had really nice play calling, they set up passes with the run Patrick Williams looked like a totally better player, they are helping him get better not telling him to.
That fumble really took away from a dominant performance by the whole team.

Good Job Coach Sparling and the whole Staff.
Look forward to seeing you get better every week.

OVC? Don't know if there is a playoff team in the whole group,IMHO not disrespecting anyone.

I thought River Valley looked pretty good, the offense seemed to be okay, some issues with the passing game but those can be corrected in time as they get use to the offense. Defense looked good with the exception of maybe over running some plays, but once again those are things that will not happen as the season goes on. All and all River Valley may just be on the upside, just need to keep the kids motivated and wanting to succeed.

I agree with you that RV looked more organized than the last few years. South Point put zero pressure on the quarterback and in the ovc that's not a good thing. This is the reason I think South Point will finish last. How many teams in the OVC pass a lot? Thought RV looked improved but getting beat 15-7 isnt very good. Last year's preview RV looked good and then it was downhill after that is all I'm saying. They will be fine because Fed Hock is on the schedule.

If that is the case, they are really going to get pounced week 1 when they face Minford.

It doesn't look like SP throws the ball much and their line doesn't look to match up well with Minford's front. You really can't tell a great deal from scrimmages but after seeing Minford vs RH and SP at the previews I don't think Minford has a lot to worry about unless they fail to show up and play. Early opinion of Minford is that they will have trouble with teams that are balanced with the run/pass game and the QB makes poor decisions when under pressure.....again I said EARLY. Every team has something to work on at this point.

I didn't see anything Saturday that really surprised me.
Most impressive team: Rock Hill. Numbers are down, but a talented core of upperclassmen. Best QB in the OVC and some other very nice skill players.

Least impressive team: South Point. Numbers are way, way down and morale is very low in Pointer land this year. Very raw team this year with very little talent. There's a reason Green's on the schedule.

Biggest mystery: Coal Grove. A much smaller Coal Grove team takes the field this fall than in recent years. Good speed. Some good experience. Doesn't look to be a very orthodox Hornet offensive philosophy this year. Question: Can the Hornets keep up their winning ways without the size advantage they often seem to enjoy up front?
