Think what the score would be if we didn't have a couple of touchdowns called back. :122248

Think what the score would be if Warren didn't fumble for a Jackson TD and give up a kickoff TD to Jackson? Usually if you hold the score gets called back.

Nice win for the Ironmen tonight against a good Warren football team. The Warriors will definitely win a lot of football games this season. Good luck to them the rest of the way.
I didn't think Jackson played to their potential offensively tonight, but a lot of that had to do with the Warren defense. It seemed like they blitzed the entire night. Because there were so many defenders in the box, Jackson didn't run the ball that well, and Osborne also didn't have much time in the pocket. Definitely a great defensive gameplan by the Warren staff. Jackson made some big plays on special teams, and on defense, which allowed them to convert on a couple short field opportunities.
The defensive performance by Jackson was pretty outstanding, considering how dangerous the Warren offense truly is. The Ironmen got to Leffingwell a good bit, and when they couldn't sack him, they still pressured him. The coverage in the secondary was pretty solid for the most part, and of course, the defense forced several takeaways.
Portsmouth is up next. Hopefully the Ironmen can get the offense rolling, continue to improve against another pass-oriented squad, and get win #6 overall, and win #3 in league play.

I forgot that turnovers and special teams didn't count.hardrock21 wrote:Think what the score would be if Warren didn't fumble for a Jackson TD and give up a kickoff TD to Jackson? Usually if you hold the score gets called back.
That's generally what happens when you fumble the ball or don't cover a kick though.
Maybe the answer for those problems would have been another sideline warning.

I forgot holding calls usually don't count either that directly affect scores? I felt the Warren sideline warning was legit seeing as the ref totally blew the call. Warren player clearly goes to the ground with an interception in the endzone, Jackson player wrestles the ball away after Warren player already down. Yeah the coach being upset was legit, how about Jacksons sideline warning?

Thanks Hardrock for standing up....Warren did the same, in spite of mistakes they never quit and played with a ton of heart. Warren was back in the game, then the kickoff return gave Jackson breathing room again. If Jackson is the best in the SEOAL, then Warren is second best. Warren has a chance to have a very good season, they won't lose again this year. Jackson is very solid and they took advantage of Warren's mistakes, but I hope they see this is not the same Warriors they overwhelmed last year. Keep your heads up boys you know you can play. Keep getting better. Let's move on to next Friday.

Are you dismissing Gallia Academy? Neither team has played them yet, you know.

Yes Gallia is a good team....and down at their place...it will be nasty....looking forward to the second half of the season....
Re: Week 5: Jackson(4-0) @ Warren (3-1)
Defense can win a lot of ball games and it almost did it for Gallia Friday night. If they had just crossed the goal line once they would have won this game with their kicker.

I think you missed my point, so I'll be more clear this time.hardrock21 wrote:I forgot holding calls usually don't count either that directly affect scores? Yes, holding calls count. However, you called out grndma1 for her comment, and then did the same thing by using a "what if" about Warren's fumble and their lack of kick coverage. You can't get on someone else for playing the "what if" game and then, in the same post, do it yourself.
The sideline warning given to Warren's coach was ridiculous in my opinion. Your coach had every right to be upset because it appeared to me that McNelly did wrestle the ball away on the ground. Probably shouldn't have been called simultaneous possession. However, Osborne's INT in front our your bench was a pick, AND he came up with the football, yet simultaneous possession was awarded to Warren this time.
However, that isn't even what I was referring to with my comments about sideline warnings. I was referring to the fact that Jackson was called for THREE sideline warnings, not because their staff complained or their kids said something out of line, but because the ref felt he didn't have enough room to roam freely as he lagged behind every single play the entire game. Austin Osborne had an oustanding pick six negated because this fella was way too "sideline warning" happy.
Overall, the officiating in the game was horrendous both ways. It really ruined a game between two very good teams. Also, no one on here is proclaiming Jackson to be THE best team in the SEOAL. They are 2-0 in SEOAL play, and they're in the process of trying to defend last year's title. They have some very difficult games left to play in the SEOAL, and it's going to take a lot of hard work to get the job done. Warren does have a good football team and I feel like they should do well against the rest of their SEOAL schedule, but they certainly don't want to take Gallia Academy for granted. I've seen the Blue Devils twice, and their defense is one of the best in the area, in my opinion.

Ironman02; Once more, even though i am loyal blue at heart, your take on the game is pretty much spot on. Congrats to the Ironmen, they made the best of some of the worst officiating (both ways) to date, that I have seen this year. The simutanious possession in front of the Warren was a weak attempt at a make up call for the other glaring screw up on the TD call. If the stripes don't call it then it must be legal. Warren's defensive unit did have the Ironmens number last night. Only three Offensive TD's, the rest was turnovers, special teams and the one thing that every team need, the football bouncing in your direction. I listened to the radio during the game and the announcer summed it up pretty well, after the Interception/TD, Warren just cannot get a break. anything that can go against them has, fumbles, etc. But I also have to give credit where credit is due. Jackson created those points with their play, the Int's well thats a different story, only one of the three was under pressure, the other two, who knows. The defensive fronts for both treams made life miserable for both offensives.
And both of these teams had better have their cleats laces tightened when they play Gallia, Warren at Gallia, is Jackson? Very hostile environment if they are. Anyway good luck to the Ironmen, do they play Ironton this year? Score was Ironton 6 Gallia 0 firday night.

Only 3 offensive TD?....that's not a bad number! Defense and special teams often score points in football.
Jackson has had a 25 point lead in every game this season.
