Ty, very well said. I am not sure that I can add or detract to what you have already said. However, you know me, let me try. It is our hope that our children (this word is to be used as intended), reach the age of our current standing that they remember fondly of these experiences. The thrill of competition, the camaraderie between teammates and coaches, the representation of school and community, and chasing achievement should be paramount when recalling these events. It should never be about adults who interject themselves into the arena; those who do serve only themselves, for they could not act in the best interest of the children. Unfortunately for the children, thirty-years from now, their memories will be clouded with the actions of one individual. And now, and probably worse yet, the gentleman has become a punch line for two communities, and I feel sorry for him.
Next season the Vikings will be better and I am extremely excited to see the maturation of the Vikings for the next six years.

I actually attended this game and rooted for the Vikings because being from Meigs, I always support the TVC come tournament time. I was wondering who the man was that was ejected from the game. It wasn't Kenny Bixx, was it? I noticed the players shook his hand when they were introduced. Curious as to some of the other Vikings fans' take on what occurred. I was hoping Dundas, viked man and ski daddy would share their thoughts on this situation. As for the game, it seemed that foul trouble and lack of depth is ultimately what cost the Vikings. There were some layups and missed free throws at key times that also really hurt the Vikings. FU was a good team, though. Good luck in the tourney Falcons!

I am not oringinally from VC, I started watching VC basketball about 8 years ago and have become a fan of the program. Not sure who the guy is that was ejected, but I have seen him at the home games and the kids always go over to him as they are announced. We all have issues with refs and the calls they make, but as adults we should never make a scene that makes your school district look bad. You can yell and scream all you want, but not to the point of being beligerant or threatening to someone. Not a fan with what happeded, hopefully the school deals with that.

#`1 you don't know what was sad to the ref; nothing racist. He was asked, "Don't you think you guys should get a better controll of this game before another kid gets badly hurt; if that concerns you at all? Nothing about good or bad calls either way. The concern was for the safty of the kids. He responded " YOU SHUT UP!" No reason to be tossed! But Shut up is a poor choice of words.Ty Webb wrote:Congrats to The Fairfield Union Falcons, they were the better team last night and deserved to win. Their physical style of play, compounded with VC's poor shooting from the perimeter kinda told the tale. Also, loosing our starting point guard, Mathew Smallwood, and having some key players in foul trouble didn't help matters either. Props to Alex Owings and Per Smith for coming off the Viking bench and really playing with tons of heart.
In addition to the VC loss, the other incident I thought was disappointing was the off-court/fan ejection drama in the 2nd half. As fans, most of us(including myself) have yelled somethings as spectators that we probably shouldn't have done. But its reprehensible, when an adult becomes that much of a "part of the show", much less making an obscene gesture as a cop escorted them out. This doesn't make this person bad, but I think as spectators we need to constantly remember the reason we're there.....to watch the game; not become "part of the show." That's the kid's job.
Again, good game by Fairfield Union. I'm already looking forward to seeing VC next year, they'll be solid again.
#2 you don't know that the ref used profane language first!
#3 VC Basketball coach should be repremended on his choice of words too.

You talk without knowing, type with words you have no ideal what they mean, and you should tell everyone why they call you pup!
You want to talk about punch-lines, lets start with your belt-line it covers three communities!
This will be the last post ever entered by VIKED_MAN, because he is disassociating himself with the Vikings, SEOPS.
As far as the game goes, if a coach lets one player defeat him he deserves to lose!

Viked_Man - 1 Opinion of the game.
400 - 500 Viking Fans sitting across from Viked_Man - Probably a different opinion of the game.
Viked_Man's Opinion - Probably doesn't carry much weight after his performance after being told to LEAVE THE GYM.

Wait just a second here, Viked_Man. I listen/read your monotonous babbling out of courtesy, but you have crossed the line.
1: your request to the players to fist bump you during the starting lineups just speaks volumes of how attention-starved you are.
2: you coached Jr. High basketball. YOU didn't go undefeated those years, THE KIDS did.
3: you embarrassed not only yourself, but the basketball team and the entire school district. Flipping the bird is never the right choice in public.
4: your tirade was in the midst of one of the Viking runs. I'm sure an unnecessary 8 minute delay really rallied the troops.
5: I'm glad you're done with the Vikings. Our program has gotten to the point where we don't need people like you involved. I'm sure the highschool coaches have a lot less work to do now that the kids are actually learning things at the junior high level.

It can't be your last post. Are you going to let Striker have the last word? I need to see your response!VIKED_MAN wrote: This will be the last post ever entered by VIKED_MAN, because he is disassociating himself with the Vikings, SEOPS.

I'm still trying to figure out where in Ty Webb's post he said anything about a racist outburst. Guilty conscience?

Despite the unwarranted personal attacks, my sentiment remains the same. I feel sorry for you.

Re: 2/24 (3)Vinton County vs. (6)Fairfield Union D2 Logan
Everbody on this web site has at one time or another let there emotions get the best of them but it is about the kids not the ego of anyone on here. It's ok to shout scream or be apart of the show but not ok to be the show. Vike Man Kenny Bixx Jr or anyone else that does not like V.C. move away or just shut up you have already stole part of the show and most good people are getting sick of it.

Despite what others may think, I support your actions, VIKED MAN! It's about time someone had the guts to take up for the kids! Anyone who paid attention would have noticed the cheers coming from the Vikings fan section when VIKED MAN stood up. There may be a few people who didn't like the actions of Russ, but the majority were cheering for him. He IS a true Vikings fan! He probably feels a little more passionate about these boys because he was once their coach. And they finished with a much better record under him than Combs, I might add. Keep doing what you're doing and please do NOT disassociate yourself with Vinton County. Be proud of what you have done for these kids, as a coach and a fan!
Re: 2/24 (3)Vinton County vs. (6)Fairfield Union D2 Logan
Regardless of how you feel of the situation. I do not know this man, but his actions were completely uncalled for. We as fans, see missed calls and bad calls and yell and scream. But you can never set the example that it is ok to disregard authority and be disrespectful. There was a gym full of young men and women that seen an adult act like a delinquent. As I tell my 3 teenage boys, "when you are out in public, you represent your mother and I". Teach our kids morals and integrity and they will not act like that in public!!lil vike supporter wrote:Despite what others may think, I support your actions, VIKED MAN! I wasnt at this game so i dont know what happen. but i was right about the vc girls situation. so you can call it a soap opera all you want but the way they treated the kight boy and the ward family was wrong. it sounds like vc is falling a part.93Bulldog wrote:All season it was the Vinton girls ... now its the boys? They have a long way to go before I classify them as "falling apart".
