Yes, Kretzer went out with 6:20 to play in the 3rd. Jake had already dunked the ball and got undercut - landed very hard on his shoulder and hit his head. Out with a concussion. The team rallied around that and went on to lead by 17 after 3. Jake gad 16 at that point. Kelly and White stepped it up, Kelly finishing with 15 and White with 9.

He was not undercut his momentum carried him. He was just going hard and tried to dunk with two hands if he would of dunked with one hand it would have never happened.

Obviously you've never dunked in transition when you don't get high enough that's what can happen

i have to agree with smurray and smack was at the game and number 53 had seemed to be chasing down kretzer and took out his legs causing kretzer to let go of the rim falling and it seems very unsportsman like to do that knowing he could have cause kretzer his career

I have seen kretzer dunk at least 10 break aways 2 handed at full speed this year and he has never flew off the rim like that. Not sure if the kid hit him in mid flight , but he definitely got in the way on the landing. At least go for the block if you dont want to get dunked on.

Irregardless, whether seen as an intentional act or not.....you don't see these types of take downs on the aau circuit or city leagues where dunks are a common form of scoring. The players in those arenas have more respect for the dunker. Kretzers ball was clearly through the rim when this act occured. We've seen Kretzer get knocked to the ground in a similar manner on more than one occasion during this past season. Think its time for southern Ohio players to acknowledge that you can't stop a dunk and just give it up. Hope Kretzer bounces back in usual form.....hate to see him end a remarkable season in such a negative way.

I agree with MoonTang, I have been around basketball my entire life and know all too well that you have to "play the ball" when contesting a breakaway dunk like Jake had last night....and does ALL the time. His feet were clearly dangling when the young man's body reversed his momentum and left him defenseless. Now, whether this was intentional or not, I don't know...but wanna doubt it was. However, this has happened ALL season long with Jake, and is something that should be dealt with swiftly by officials. Breakaway dunks happen all the time in college and NBA games and they either play the ball or accept they got dunked on (generally the latter), otherwise it's simply too dangerous.

And for the comment if he needs to get higher when he dunks in transition....I think Jake knows how to dunk quite well. He has wowed crowds with spectacular dunks all year long....and may be the best, most complete basketball player ever to come out of this area. I wish him a speedy recovery...Waverly love's you Jake!!!

I agree with MoonTang, college, AAU, and NBA players either "play the ball", or accept they got dunked on (regarding breakaways)....otherwise, it's simply too dangerous. This has been a problem Jake has faced all year.....getting undercut, in some cases blatently taken out when going up for a dunk. Last night, Jake's feet were clearly dangling when the young man hit his legs and reversed his momentum...leaving him defenseless....(this should be dealt with swiftly by officials) Whether, this was intentional or not, I don't know....but want to doubt it was. Jake knows how to dunk and has wowed crowds with spectacular dunks all year long, so he's got it down.....and can get PLENTY high enough. Folks, you are seeing one of the best (if not THE best), most complete basketball players to ever grace the hardwood in southern Ohio play his senior season...I wish him a speedy recovery. Waverly love's you Jake.

Jake was lighting it up in the 3rd, well on his way to becoming Waverly's all-time leading career scoring leading, regardless of sex, needing 24 to tie Teresa Campbell at 1,587. He now needs 8 to tie and 21 to be the only Waverly player to score 1,600 points. The way he was pouring it on he may have accomplished both last might.

It was an inexcusable act which could have cost a young man more than his career.
