Rowe is a very nice player especially for being a freshman. Lightle has become more of a complete player under PJ Fitch . I can't see Rowe shutting him down at this early stage of his career like I said coach Fitch is really rounding Lightle's game out. But when Rowe is done with high school I think he will really leave his mark he's going to be a very good player.

I think he's the most complete 8th grader to come through Eastern in a while. Minford will certainly reap the benefits of having him. He has all of the ability needed and a tremendous work ethic.

I think he will get plenty of time on varsity, as the 6th man and could possibly start some games the kid is that solid just my opinion. It will obviously take a little time to adjust to the speed and strength of the kids he will be playing with and against. And to answer your question Eaglesnest, basketball is the only sport he is interested in to my knowledge of the situation.

Rowe is on the very short list of top incoming Freshman in the southeast district regarless of division. You might see him at the 1 a little bit for Minford to take a little bit of the load off Mcbee. He is certainly a capable ball handler and passer

I agree with eagles nest , don't really get the move to minford, I was shocked when I heard this I thought Rowe was one that would b a eagle for his career,his family has always been eastern supporters,but everyone has their reasons, best of luck to him, eastern will b just fine.

If I was a betting person, I would say the move was for better competition, seeing how our division isn't very strong, if he is wanting to play ball somewhere after high school. Or.............it could be for other reasons. I plan on talking to his parents the next time I see them to get the scoop - I would say it's an INTERESTING STORY!!!!

I didn't make it to many junior high games but I have seen Eastern's junior high beat Minford several times the last several years.. i am not saying the boy isn't talented either but I seen plenty of other talent on the Eastern team.

If he wanted exposure, wouldn't he get more by being on a great D4 team with a chance of doing something in the tournament. Seems to me that 4 years of that would be more important than the competition argument. Besides, next to S.Webster, EAstern plays one of the toughest non-league schedules for a D4 school typically.

Anyhow, best of luck to the young man but if he is not planning on playing football, I think this is a big mistake (and yes, I know plenty about both schools and both programs).

To Game point this is my reply, sounds like one of the transfers is your kid because the Rowe kid is a much better defensive and offensive player then either one of the transfers and this came from one of the Varsity coaches not just from my watching all these kids play for the last 4 years! Not saying that Lightle or Fultz isn't good but I would have hoped that Fitch would have taken into consideration that Lightle is a 1 (year) and done player and that Rowe would be with him for 4 years. Everytime you go by that kids house he's outside shooting or dribbling. And everytime I've been up to the baseball fields in Beaver the kid is playing ball or has a ball in his hand. He is dedicated and that's what we need on our team! Now, I'm not saying that the other 4 freshman coming up aren't good but "the ball handler" of that team - IS GONE!

Now to Eagles Nest, I made it to, from what I heard, was the 2 most important games of the year, and if it hadn't been for Rowe, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE WON! You evidentally don't know much about the game! He lead them on the floor - we DON'T have another guard on that 8th grade team - SORRY if that hurts!

I've been an eagle longer then you have probably been alive and if you think that we have tough competition in our league then I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SMOKING! We haven't played hard competition since the 1980's and 90's! Our division is WEAK! and if that's why Rowe left - then GOOD FOR HIM! I'm sure that he and his parents had a VERY GOOD reason for leaving and I will find out and post! Until then I wish him the very best of luck and plan on attending MANY Minford games in the next 4 years!

First of all "EAGLES NEST" - I AM AND WILL ALWAYS BE A TRUE EAGLE so don't question my support of this team. I've even supported it for the last 5 years when I have really not cared much for the coach and I've seen coaches come and I've seen them go! I only wish the Eagles the best this year and I would love to see more banners in that gym, so again, DON'T QUESTION MY SUPPORT! Nope, not a high school agent (wish I was - probably make more money) just an avid basketball fan. I said that I wasn't taking anything from that 8th grade team just that there wasn't any other guards on that 8th grade team - and I've heard that from PLENTY of Beaver people! I know it takes a TEAM to win (not that coach but that's another post) but you ARE A FOOL if you didn't see that talent AND YES in ALOT of Eastern fans minds - Rowe was the reason they won those 2 games. I'm sure it's on a video somewhere - get a copy and watch it! That 8th grade team WOULD have been good but now........well, time will only tell.

As I have said before - DON'T QUESTION MY LOYALTY! Eaglesnest (or do I mean Coach Fitch), I think if you look at all my posts I haven't said a negative thing about any players (maybe the coach) but not the players. I give them ALL the respect in the world! I know they work hard - go to ALL the games! Lands, great kid - good player - your favorite?, Tay, excellent insider good shot, Murphy, that boy is a BEAST inside but never given the chance (maybe this year?), Thacker, great shot, misused!, Creech, quick, gets upset easily but never given a chance, Lightle, good kid, outside shooter, needs to work on defense and quickness - BUT 1 AND DONE!, Fultz, good outside shot if he has enough time to set up but transferred because he couldn't get playing time at Minford. Not questioning any of these kids but what happened to Adam Pearl? That was a true Eagle - NEVER given a chance! Now we'll see what he can do in Waverly and at the Holiday tournaments. Don't you play them first game? Anyway, I love these boys and don't want any of them to think different so QUIT saying I'm not loyal!

I'm not a " transfer's parent" but I do follow high school ball here and at every school in pike county. You are most likely a former player of PJ's that's not happy with him and that's fine . I have been to Easterns open gyms as well as others you are right that Rowe is a nice player no where near what Lands was as a freshmen but very good. And he is above where Lightle and Fultz was when they were but nightly those to scored at will on the younger Rowe at open gym.
