PortsmouthTrojan59: The latest is that we are still looking for a game, but that shouldn't be any problem to fill.........I do know that Eugene requested that in the Ironton Classic that he wants the Trojans to play a D1 school.

When I find out the complete schedule, I will post it.

Looks like the Trojans may be playing 2 games in the Ironton Classic to fill the 22 game regular season........one of the opponents could be Columbus Brookhaven, which would be a very good test for PHS.

Talked to Coach Collins yesterday at the Logan game.........the Trojans now have finalized a 22 game schedule........PHS will play only once in the Ironton Classic, most likely Brookhaven, and will also play Johnson Central(KY) in a tournament at Boyd County(KY) on Saturday, Dec.15........the night after the Warren game.

Don't have a complete schedule yet, but hope to get it soon to post it. I can say that the Trojans will play South Webster, Piketon, Peebles, Greenup County, Wheelersburg, and South Point as part of the non-conference slate.

Johnson Central(KY) returns a 6-8 center from their Sweet 16 team a year ago.

Dave along with the Streak, don't Portsmouth also play host to Minford?

Knowledge: Haven't seen the official schedule yet, and Coach Collins hasn't mentioned Minford as one of our opponents.......I will ask him next time we talk if I can remember........I think the Falcons, along with Wheelersburg, are the favorites in SOC II, and I think it would help MHS come tournament time if they played a couple of tough tests outside of the SOC in the regular season.

Roy Munson: I talked with Coach Collins last night........Scott County had to cancel its game with Johnson Central on the 15th, thus making room for the Trojans to play JC on that day.

I forgot to ask about MInford on the Trojans schedule, but according to Knowledge the Falcons will be coming to PHS on the 21st........good for both schools.

Here is a great link I found on OHSAA's website. Has almost everyone's schedules put in. You can search for any school, any sport, at any level. Portsmouth's schedule is on it, but I do not know if it is fully accurate at this time.

Knowledge: Thanks for the link to the schedule website........I checked it out and it listed 22 games for the Trojans (12 road, 10 home).......apparently, though, it may not be fully accurate with the addition of Johnson Central on Dec.15th, which is not listed on that schedule.......we may only be playing Ironton once because the Trojans will be playing in the Ironton Classic and the schedule only lists "Ironton" twice.

The new track......Hadsell Track--Clark Athletic Complex......installed this summer is already in use by the basketball team.........about 15 kids, high school and junior high, were running laps to sharpen their basketball conditioning.........great idea by Coach Collins to utilize the track instead of just running suicides in the gym.

trojandave !!! I'm thinkin' it is against OHSAA Rule 7-1-5 for potential basketball players to be running on a "track" vs in the confines of a gym/court ... you may have a bunch of potential hoopsters DQ'd !!! LOL ... looking forward to seeing the youngin's Coach Collins will be putting on the court OR TRACK for the 2012-13 season (unless the OHSAA finds all of the potential hoopsters ineligible for breaking Rule 7-1-5

pfloyd: I'm all for running outdoors for basketball conditioning.......being a distance runner myself........is it breaking a rule if the tracksters run suicides in a gymnasium?......... :-D

Running/conditioning is not illegal as long as a basketball is not used in drills. Football team lifts and runs in the summer.

LOL ... bengalfan76 - I was just giving trojandave a hard time ... just trying to ruffle td's feathers since he NEVER had to throw his hat during any of the PHS games last year - they were just too darn good !!! ... conditioning is conditioning no matter where it is done and there is no Rule 7-1-5 ... trojandave the tracksters MUST wear their spiked running shoes if they run on a gym floor however LOL (OHSAA Rule 8-5-7

I talked to Coach Collins today and he did not organize or supervise the running and it was not part of open gym.

trojandave - there is nothing wrong whatsoever with the hoopsters conditioning ... I wasn't insinuating that PHS was doing anything wrong at all - I was just trying to be "humorous" LOL ...
