Wow....2 home games so far...2 walk-off wins!
Jackson came in for their 4th game in 4 days. Jackson rested Kacee Jenkins (3-0) but senior Abby White and sophomore Riley Strawser shared the pitching duties and along with some good defense, kept the Ironladies in the game. Jackson entered the 6th inning trailing 4-0 to Minford and the power pitching Kelsey Conkey. Jess Webb and Kelly Hughes worked their way on base and by the time the big boppers (Kari Jenkins, Sam Humphreys Jensen Oberholzer) were done Jackson had tied it at 4-4. Strawser pitched a good 7th and went to the bottom of the 7th still tied. With 2 outs and no one on leadoff hitter Webb gets DRILLED in the lower shin/upper ankle to overly earn her way to first. On the second pitch with a pulsating leg she easily steals 2nd. Conkey strikes out the next batter but ball got away and after hesitation the Jackson batter sprinted to first as no throw was made to first and Webb advanced to 3rd. Once reaching first we sent Wills to second hoping for a rundown and after several hesitations the ball was thrown to 2nd and the ump initially called her out but the ball popped away and Webb scored her second game winning run in dramatic fashion over a 72 hour period.
Minford has a very good team and a sensational pitcher in Conkey. They should win a mess of games even in their extremely difficult game. Best of luck to the Lady Falcons.
Jackson moved to 4-0 and has yet another game tomorrow versus a talented Chillicothe team.

Re: Jackson 5 Minford 4
By the first two batters in the 6th "working their way on" do you mean they walked? HBP? bunted? etc?
Re: Jackson 5 Minford 4
It was so exciting and eventful that I don't exactly remember. I think Webb was walked on 5 or 6 pitches and I know Hughes worked a walk for her second of the game. I think Webb stole 2nd and Jenkins hit a single past the SS to score Webb....Hughes to 2nd. Humphreys ripped a shot to the fence to make it 4-3. Jensen Oberholzer followed with a big single that I think was bobbled in the OF and Oberholzer was thrown out at 2nd....but it guaranteed Humphreys scoring to tie it.
Going by memory....details might be a little off.

Thanks for the description. It never ceases to amaze me that pitchers, at all levels, in control with a good lead, especially after their offense just got them in good shape, just give base runners, and get in trouble. Today one Marietta College's best baseball pitchers was shutting out Ohio Northern in about the 4th inning and MC had a good inning to give them a 4-0 lead. He promptly came out and walked the first two batters on 3-2 pitches, and eventually gave up a two out grand slam to tie it, but in this case the team that rallied to tie it lost 5-4.
Re: Jackson 5 Minford 4
IMO the good at bats throughout the game begun to wear on her and the middle of the order saw a lot of pitches to time her out. Minford should've pulled away more than 4-0 in the earlier parts of the game.
I believe Jackson has given up exactly two runs in all 5 games so far in the first two innings.
