Austin North great strong and fast, the line for nelsonville has all been working hard in the weight room this offseason, better watch out for Austin McCulloch.

Eagledad,

For the kids sake, I hope Belpre has a good season. But with the current coaching staff that has gone 1-19, and seeing them play a couple times last season, I don't see them being much better. Looking at ther OHSAA website, they had over 360 points scored against them each of the last two season. Defense definately needs some help. Again, I do hope they have success.

teach,

i agree the defense has to improve a boatload, as does the offense. there is much work to be done. the current group of seniors have won a grand total of 1 varsity game in their high school careers. 1 and 29. that goes back beyond the current coaching staff, so you can't blame them. can't blame those kids because they haven't been on the field for all three years. losing breeds losing, that is the current atmosphere in belpre. these kids are working their butts off to get better. its hard when only a small percentage of the male enrollment comes out to play. ive heard people say belpre doesnt have any athletes to which i say "BULLBUTTER!" track team last year won TVC, not sure how this years team is doing though. this years wrestling team finished third in TVC behind two very strong programs (athens and ny), with only one senior and finished second in the district tourny. this years hoops team won TVC right? i think. point is weve got athletes. belpre needs to concentrate on the basics and fundamentals. there is a sign hanging in the weight room (which by the way if you haven't seen it you should stop by, 1000 x improvement over years past) which has a quote from Vince Lombardi, something to the tune of " i dont care what kind of offense or defense a team runs, the team that blocks and tackles the best is going to win the game." truer words have never been spoken. i believe if these seniors step up and get some of their classmates to come out and play, and they continue to work on blocking and tackling all summer, belpre could have a chance to finish .500 or better. call me crazy, but i believe this heart and soul. so, heres looking forward to a "golden" 2012 football season in belpre.

restore the soar
go Eagles!

Junior Jordan Hutton from Meigs, in with the mix of Seniors Chris Jones, Dillon Boyer, Alex Morris, etc. Along with Juniors Andy Burt, Blaine Perry, and Freshman Brandon Young.

I hope Meigs has a good year and is relevant in the TVC-Ohio ... The league seems to be better on years the Marauders are 'a player' in the TVC-Ohio title race.

The one problem I see with Meigs is: NOT PLAYING ON THE OLD FIELD DOWN ON THE RIVER! I really liked that place, lot's of personality surrounding that venue ... I saw the new field when Athens played at Meigs in baseball ... Its pretty nice - but I still like the 'old stadiums' with history behind them.

New Field, New Coach, New Attitude! I think that in a couple years Meigs will be near the top of the league every year.

Winning is contagious, just ask Athens! Once Bartrum and Company get those boys focused NY and Athens better be ready!
