Re: Falcons at Eastern
It may not be pretty - but I bet MILLER shows up and plays at least ... Heck, I'm about ready to hand my vote to Coach Fortney for TVC-Hocking coach of the year ... O.k. maybe that's stretching it a bit - but he deserves some serious credit for this season coaching the Lady Falcons ... He shows up to every game, the girls show up and play hard although they are overmatched almost every time ... He even had his girls play two games (vs league opponents - when only one league game was scheduled) after they were mercied in the first game ... It was a gesture that made for certain ALL LEAGUE games would be played ... That, IMO, is 'going the extra mile' as a coach.Super Trooper wrote:Won't be too pretty for the falcons
On a side note: I recieve EVERY score - from every Miller game - the same night they play ... And for that - I am extremly gratefull ... I have to track down scores from some of the biggest schools/best teams in the TVC ... I've been out to those games involving those schools/teams, taken pictures, talked about their players - yet some of the coaches won't even take the time to shoot me an e-mail letting me know who won ... Yet, I have all the Miller info handed to me on a silver platter like clock-work every game night. Coach Fortney, Steven Wood (Meigs), Brent lark (Wahama) & Alan Crisp (Southern) are some of the few that are very helpfull ... [outside of the great posters here on SEOPS that help out with scores ... and a few newspaper writers help out tremendously as well].
* This is with softball only ... I do have different coaches in baseball that have been awesome this year in terms of info/scores.

Hey 93Bulldog, thanks for saying those nice things about the Falcons---It's a wonderful group of kids to be around---I have looked forward to every practice and enjoyed watching them compete in every game. We have struggled this year but you would never know it by their attitudes and work ethic. As for the nice things you said about me, thanks.
The Coach of the year should go to Wahama and Eastern, I personally would vote me ninth---but I got to tell you Fed and Trimble have gotten better as the year progressed---and that's the true mark of a good coach. Another team that may get over looked is Belpre, they seem to be putting it together and may be a beast in the tourney.
The mighty Falcons took one on the chin 18-1 down on the river tonight.

Re: Falcons at Eastern
Just handing out credit where credit is due Fortdawg ... Trying to obtain scores/info while working for the paper (and now for the TVC web site) - I've seen time & time again where a coach (or fans) will just quit sending/posting or calling in scores for their respective teams once things start going downhill ... To have someone, including a coach such as yourself, still reporting on his/her respective team that is 0-18 is down right impressive IMO.
(No pun intended on the 0-18 ... I was just tryin to make a point ... lol)
