i have heard the major problem there is the a.d. and the availability of the gym. former coaches have tried bringing in outsiders and by the second semester they are gone and the program has never flourished. they have been through a lot of coaches who really didn't have great credentials maybe because it is a hard place to succeed at. this new guy seems to have the credentials but unless he is an old coach he seems to jump around an awful lot. that should be a red flag right there. they need some stability.

TRIBE, Last I heard there were some concerns and he decided to stay at E.C.

And SPARKY you are dead on with the issues at SSCC

What the hell does Southern State have to do with this topic? Why not start a Southern State topic of its own? I don't want to read about Southern State on a top five players topic.

I'm not sure about Himes. Southern State did have a losing record each of the last couple seasons but I think last year's team made some positive strides. I agree that Southern State could be a good back up plan. Blevins took advantage of it last season after starting out at MSJ. They have good facilities, it would be inexpensive, and it is easy for people to come and watch them play.
Himes is probably going to Denver to teach Faired how to rebound. *Inside joke only a few posters will understand* LOL!!!

Greg Himes was a terrible hire for SSCC, He couldnt even get some local boys or girls jobs in the SHL! What credentials did he have? An athletic trainer for mason county when they happened to be good? some aau experience? Parting ways is the smartest thing SSCC could have done. SSCC just isnt set up right to be a good stoping point for JUCO's. If they had dorms combined with their facilties they could be a powerhouse. Interesting hire for SSCC, guy seems like somewhat of a wild card. With something like 8 or 9 coaching stops in 10 years he doesnt stay anywhere long, so either he is the greatest coach in the world and advancing every year or he has had problems most of the places he has been. My guess is if SSCC is where he has climbed after 10 years it would probably be safe to assume to he has had some trouble. Look him up online and you will find some interesting things about some situations he has been it. But hey best of luck to him, SSCC will be a good back up option for kids, (Kraig Unger, Tirrel Cumberland for example) but your not going to compete for national championships with tyler knabbs and tyler jimisions. Hopefully he can bring in some good talent and mix in the cream of the crop players from around here. I dont see him bringing in much of a better player than Unger, although it looks like he will never have the chance to coach unger unless things dont work out with him at Shawnee.

IMO, at this point SSCC would have been a step down for WEBBER. Yes you heard me right, at this point in time SSCC would have been a step down from East Clinton. I think he made a wise choice.

................and that my friends, is the UGLYTRUTH!

I believe Javon Thompson could be near the top of the list before the end of the year. He has improved immensely offensively and defensively. He is a complete scorer who can catch fire from three.
