This is more than a little surprising. Really thought Clay would win their district.upi24 wrote:Clay loses to Crooksville 5-4... :122246 :122246 :122246

Agreed...wow, that's disappointing. Thought they were supposed to do some damage....they were ranked pretty high...makes you wonder, though -- The teams that actually contributed to Clay's storied history went pretty far in Regionals and State, and I don't know if I remember them being ranked...just remember them winning...you've gotta earn it...Better luck next year...they have some talent...they'll get there.MrHEAT wrote:This is more than a little surprising. Crooksville joins New Lexington, Logan Elm and Fairfield Union as the teams of the northern part of the district really stepping it up. Softball seems a little underrated up there IMOMrHEAT wrote:This is more than a little surprising. Just want to say Congrats! to the Clay lady Panthers for a fantastic season. They are a great bunch of girls who worked really hard this year. The loss last night was a disappointment for them, but they fought until the last out of the game. They played a lot tougher schedule this year than a lot of the other schools in their division. With the exception of the loss to Notre Dame, the Panther losses in their regular season were to Division II & Division III schools.

Crooksville is a pretty good team from a tough conference. Clay simply squandered too many chances with runners in scoring position. BTW, the "Ceramics" dropped down to D IV from D III this year. The cut-off is 120 girls. Crooksville listed 120 girls as their enrollment figure. Go figure.MrHEAT wrote:This is more than a little surprising. Re: Thursday, May 17 results
Crooksville has gone back and forth between division III and division IV for several years. They have been a solid program and often do not have an outstanding record because the MVL is predominately division II.
By the way, when they report their enrollment each fall, they have no idea what the cut-off for Division III to Division IV will be (as none of the schools in Ohio know ahead of time).
New Lexington (also in the MVL) went from Division III to Division II this year. They got a big win the other night against Warren.

It's bad to leave runners on and if it happens more than twice in a game you will have a tough time when it's a close one. Clay had a successful year after some drama to start the season.Nine20four wrote:Crooksville is a pretty good team from a tough conference.
