Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
Looks like GAHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will try to salvage the organization's 11th HOF event. Tom Meadows has called a meeting for Thursday, July 26, at 4:30 p.m., in the new high school in Centenary.
Usually, by this time, nominations have been made and individuals notified of their selection. Too, Dave Tawney needs names for the plaques and time for engravings. That takes about a month.
PS--My computer has been acting up the past few days. Haven't been able to get on line since Friday.
By the way, I think the first thing the HOF committee should do Thursday is get rid of those who don't care anymore or won't show up for meetings unless it's voting time. There are 22 on the committee. This is something that should not fall by the wayside.

GAHS Athletic HOF committee members...Don't forget this evening's 4:30 meeting at the new high school to discuss the 11th Hall of Fame class nominations.

GAHS Athletic HOF committee
picks a date for 2012 ceremonies
There will be a 11th Gallia Academy Athletic Hall of Fame class and it will be held the weekend of Sept. 28-29.
Twelve HOF committee members made that decision during a meeting at GAHS on Thursday, July 26.
Tom Meadows, first president and prime organizer of the HOF over a decade ago volunteered to head this year’s event for one year. He will succeed outgoing president Rusty Saunders.
Other 2012-13 HOF officers will be Tom Young, vice president, Randy Finney secretary and Lori Young, treasurer.
The HOF committee has usually selected nominees by the first of July and set a date for their induction, but because the group had no meetings this spring or early summer, it looked like there would be no class in 2012.
New HOF members will be introduced prior to the home football game against Southeastern Ohio Athletic League foe Chillicothe on Friday, Sept. 28.
The new inductees will be treated to a dinner on Saturday, Sept. 29, in the GAHS cafeteria at Centenary. They will also be presented plaques following the annual banquet. The Park Front Café will cater this year’s banquet.
A list of potential candidates is on file in the reference room at the Bossard Memorial Library. Committee members were asked to go to the library and review the list, which contains 18 holdovers and three new nominations that were submitted to the group on July 26.
After committee members review current nominations, they will take a vote during the group’s next meeting, to be held on Thursday, Aug. 9, at 5:15 p.m., in the GAHS cafeteria at Centenary.
Attending the Jul 26 meeting were Roger Mace, superintendent; Tim Massie, principal; Jim Osborne, Brent Saunders, Tom Meadows, Tom Morgan, Hobart Wilson, Jr., John Milhoan, Tom Young, Lori Young Randy Finny, Renee Haley and guest Richard (Dick) Moore.

Gallia academy getting a little love from the huddle. In their region 12 predictions they have gallia academy as one of their 8 playoff teams. Also have Ty Warnimont as one of the players in region to watch. I know it is just a preview and the games are played on the field but it is nice to know that other people think you may be good.

I don't put much stock in what the puddle says, but I hope they are correct. I wonder how the 2-a-days are going, what with the fair and all. Maybe no news is good news. :122249

Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
As far as i know this week everything went fine. i have heard of no major injuries this week, and i don't know if it is some kind of sign but the boys only went once Friday and are taking today off. After seeing the boys a little this week the weight room looks like it is really paying off. i was really afraid about our size, but we looked much bigger then i thought we would. Wrestling coach could be a little upset. i could be wrong but i don't see. Briggs, byus or warren getting below 220 to wrestle. maybe they have not put on as much as it looks it pounds. but they appear to me to be much bigger. looks like allen has also. there are several other boys i don't know all the names of juniors and seniors who do not wrestle but they all look pretty good. A lot of the kids that were freshmen last year are beginning to look pretty good. I think we my see a few sophomores, get some good experience this year.
Still feel the same way i did a month ago. Can't tell if we have pretty good depth or mediocre talent. Does anyone know if they did anything to new field to make it playable for next week or are we going to scrimmage at memorial field. I would think as long as they had 50 or 60 yards of new field playable they could scrimmage out there but i have not heard. Don't forget if we play at new high school to bring your lawn chairs.

Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
With ya on the puddle comment 78..... I was on the huddle 10 years ago... Can't remember if I got booted or quit when they started charging... One thing I learned about the huddle, they know very little about Southern Ohio football and don't really care.... Being ranked or unranked by the huddle means absolutely nothing.... If you doubt what I am saying go check it out..... Thanks for the update KV... Have no idea where they are playing, I would hope they would make the best decision possible and play on memorial field... The locker rooms, bleachers, concession stand, restrooms are available at Memorial field.... When is the Parkersburg scrimmage???GalliaGrad78 wrote:I don't put much stock in what the puddle says, but I hope they are correct. I wonder how the 2-a-days are going, what with the fair and all. Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
it is either 10 or 11 am next Saturday morning. They were talking about trying to turn it into a fund raiser for new field would be only reason to have it out there.
I don't disagree about the huddle the only reason i am on there is it use to be great way for me to find youth wrestling tourneys for my son in off season since there weren't a lot around here. and then they sent me an e-mail about texting in football scores of GA on game nights and for that i got free membership. so i still go there and look occasionally. when i go home i will look up scrimmage time and put it on here.
I don't know that much of the state knows much about southern ohio sports but i think that is beginning to change with the popularity of the internet. I think the huddle is free now but am not sure don't go there much as there is not much tlk about local teams.

Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
Thanks KV... The huddle was one of the first high school football forums... When it was started Southern Ohio had a large following... I-town,GAHS, Jackson, Logan, Athens, Portsmouth and many other southern schools were involved... Certain schools were off limits to criticism and if you posted anything remotely negative about these schools you were banned for life...LOL.... And for some reason most of the southerns were banned which lead to the formation of SEOPS... When SEOPS first started up you could not even mention it on the huddle, if you made any reference to it you were banned.... Most posters who left the huddle have never returned.... Being retired I have lot of free time on my hands so I belong to around 4 HS forums... With SEOPS being the best...

The article was written by one of the Managing editors of Bucknuts.com... To read the article on JJ you had to subscribe or be a member of the Ohio Insider.. I am not a member and did not read the article but Bucknuts is a credable site that follows ohio high school & Ohio State football.... Predictions are a dime a dozen, wait till the season is over and see if they were right....LOL....Bevo wrote:who made that prediction? playoffs!! .....playoffs!? are you kidding me...... playoffs!? 5-5 .500 at bestseoal83 wrote:Gallia academy getting a little love from the huddle. Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
It seems Bevo's only interested in downgrading the GAHS football team. That's a shame.
Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
You are probably correct 78... Since Bevo is such an expert maybe he would be kind enough to tell us who our 5 wins will be... That way I can catch all our wins in person...LOL....GalliaGrad78 wrote:It seems Bevo's only interested in downgrading the GAHS football team. That's a shame.
Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
sorry guys i am not downgrading anything,i am trying to objective i am a long blue devil fan as i am every local team in the county. i am just not arrogant and get my hopes too high.GalliaGrad78 wrote:It seems Bevo's only interested in downgrading the GAHS football team. That's a shame.
just like last year i predicted g.a. would win 6 games at best. everyone piled on me and told me how dominant they would be on the lines and would be a playoff team, now did most of you say that or not? who was right?
just because i don't say were going to beat everyone and were going to the playoffs this year, does not mean i am against the blue devils,i understand some of you are parents and want to win every game,i am being objective!
as for who we will beat this year,i predicted that earlier>>
Athens - Close - Win/Loss @ Athens GA not good on turf! Really good Sophomore class
Licking Heights - Win/Loss- But it is at Home so- Either Way only know they return almost everyone??
Ironton - LOSS!! *Big Time pay back
Marietta - Should Win *they moved to a lesser conference
Vinton County - Win - prob the only double digit win for the Blue Devils
Chillicothe - Toss up i say Win* This game too could go either way i say 6 points either way
Portsmouth - Win/Loss* Tossup if they have the same team as last year,Who ever knows who they are going to have on the team?
Warren - Loss * really good group of athletes i think they are the surprise of the league, Leffingwell passed for almost 300yds last year and the best receiver is back as well.
Logan - Loss * Big rivalry game and usually involves the police! Up at Logan they win
Jackson - LOSS! - Best coaching staff in southern Ohio!
O.K. worst case scenerio IMHO 3-7 Best 7-3 that is figuring in the parity in the league.
There it is,I am not just downgrading anything. If half of you would be honest you wouldn't be setting yourselves up for disappointment like last year, then start blaming the coaches the scheme, were not as talented as we have been in past years, plain and simple we lost 2 college linemen and this team has very average speed.

Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
So your 5-5 prediction is kind of a middle of the road approach to your best and worst case scenario.. Can't say your wrong or right... I agree with you on the fact that some games could go either way.. Itown-Logan-Jackson= will definitely be underdogs.... If things don't go our way we could start the season out 0-3... Hope not.... Licking Heights is an unknown and Athens has beaten us 2 out of the last 3 years... Can't see Marietta or Vinton County as a loss... You forgot the Portsmouth game Bev but Probably shold be a win... I believe the rest of the league games are toss-upps... 7-3 is possible but I would say 6-4 would be more realistic.... Time will tell....
Re: GAHS FOOTBALL 2012
