Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
Re: Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
I heard kight was going to take it while Heath fought to get this off his record. I bet McKinniss will be back in 2 years as head coach. Good luck Heath

Just may come back to haunt them... a few of those young men have bright futures in my opinion. Fenton has a state ring as a player, and the others have been in it for quite some time coaching despite their young ages.
Re: Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
So let me understand this... they did not like ANY of the applicants, many of whom were young and with no varsity experience, yet they hire an older individual with NO varsity experience as well? If the rumor of Kight holding the position until McKinniss can come back is true, than that is a good Idea, Heath is a great coach and even a better person.Runner00 wrote:smurray wrote:according to the article he never applied, was on the search committee and said he would take the job after they didn't like any of the applicants. I hope the hair dresser and her brother are happy. they just set jax basketball several years. i know bob kight, he will work and he will coach, but he is semi retired, do you think he wants to run practice everyday, and still do his athletic director dutys? those people should apologize to basketball players of Jax and there parents and fans.
Re: Jackson Coach Heath McKinniss Resigns
If that is the case ,than they should of hired young, I mean I could understand the concern of varsity experience, but Kight doesn't have any either, so this does not make too much sense, why not take a shot? Look at the trend in basketball.... Shakka Smart, Steve Prohm, Brad Stevens, Josh Pastner, Richard Pitino, Scott Drew, Bryce Drew, etc. I know this is college, but look at the success of Middletown's former Cincinnati Princeton's Josh Andrews, who at 25 lead the Vikings to the State Tournament, as well as local Matt Carson who is now at Westfall.Solomon wrote:I hope the hair dresser and her brother are happy. they just set jax basketball several years. i know bob kight, he will work and he will coach, but he is semi retired, do you think he wants to run practice everyday, and still do his athletic director dutys? those people should apologize to basketball players of Jax and there parents and fans.

Kight has always taken his roles and responsibilities very seriously. This position won't be any different.
Best of luck to Coach Kight and the Ironmen.

Bob Kight will do an excellent job. Although Mr. Kight may have not wish for this, he will represent Jackson with the utmost conviction and professionalism. Now, the question becomes, given the lateness of the hour, was Mr. Kight a last resort or did the administration ask Mr. Kight to keep Coach McKinniss's seat warm until he returns? I hope that it is the latter. Discuss.

If he don't wish for it, then why take the job? If it isn't your dream and passion to coach varsity basketball why take an opportunity away from someone who wants it?hawkeyepierce wrote:Bob Kight will do an excellent job. Mr. Kight has always been loyal to the school and the program. He will give his best effort and will have the kids and schools best interest in mind. It will be interesting to see with more time available next year, since they gave him the traditional 1 year contract, if they take applications and interview at that point. If they don't, it might be a good indication they may be holding it for Heath. All we can do is speculate for now. The real question is, will this hurt the number of kids that come out. This year was going to be the first of a couple of rebuilding years.
