Cleveland Browns 2012
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
And the line play was just awful,I thought they had made improvements in that area after the first 2 games, they better not get rid of McCoy they might need all the QB's they can get after that performance.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Although the Browns lost to the Eagles convincingly, I thought Brandon Weeden actually threw the ball pretty well considering the Philly D Line was in the Cleveland backfield most of the night........I don't feel good about having to beat the Eagles with Michael Vick in 2 weeks after getting blown out without him.
I don't expect the Browns to make the playoffs, but hopefully we will show noticeable improvement this year and just maybe Brandon Weeden can develop into a good QB.......but the O-line will have to block better than they did vs. the Eagles for Weeden to make it through the season. It does look like the Browns made a good pick in getting James Michael-Johnson, who seems like he's in on a lot of plays.

Browns will lose to start the season AGAIN! I don't know how to read this game. So many unknowns. Browns are so young. They could get blown out or they could make it uncomfortably close for Philly. The Eagles will need to jump on them early or the Browns will gain confidence. But in the end, Browns start 0-1.

I hate being right about this! Browns let down and get blown out by Bengals next week. On a positive note, the offense should generate a first down or two.dazed&confused wrote:Browns will lose to start the season AGAIN! I don't know how to read this game. So many unknowns. Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
browns still making stupid decisions. Colt would have won that game. But were going to do what we say not what it takes to win.
Weedon had 4 ints, and what 5 for 40, or something like that, should have been pulled.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
IF they really feel Weeden is the best option, you couldn't relieve him late in the game, especially when your defense puts you in position to win. Yes, they might have won if Colt played. Then what? Do you keep playing Colt? Could you even go back to Weeden later if Colt struggles. We've seen what Colt can do. He'll make some plays but I don't think he gets you to where you want to go in the long run. Weeden may be worse. But they spent that draft pick on him so we have to find out if he can step up. I don't think he will. Do you draft another QB high next year if Weeden stumbles? Maybe if it is Barkley. What if he is not available? Landry Jones? Someone else?
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Unbeleiveable! Vick had a horrible game, the eagles had tons of penalties,Browns defense played their harts out and they still lose the game. The offensive line was pitiful giving no holes to run through and constant pressure on Weeden,Weeden missed wide open receivers a couple times.Looks like the same ole offense from last year if you ask me.Weeden has got to improve a little or they have to yank him at some point, although if they do it will probably ruin him for good. I thought for sure the fans would start yelling for Colt today but there were plenty of boos.I guess Browns fans have to hope and pray the Eagles defense is just that good and next week they will look like a different team altogether.Good news is most the rookie QB'S struggled today except Griffin
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
Many people were happy this week that Art died. Well it is time to bury this offense. They make changes only to keep with the same results. Change of coaches doesn't seem to change the results. Maybe better luck next year.
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
The fact that Taylor, Gocong, Fujita, JMJ and eventually Sheldon Brown were all out today makes me wonder how good this defense can be. I honestly didn't think the offense could get any worse than last year ... and then I watched all of that today. Yuk.
One bright spot, however. After the Bengals and Ravens play, the Browns will still be tied for second place in the division. Thank you Broncos.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
They say the biggest improvement happens between week one and wek two. We'll see. I don't expect the Browns to win in Cincy but they must show at least an inkling, some sign of life on offense. Otherwise it gets real ugly real fast. New owner has to be wondering what the hell he has gotten into.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
weedon is what, the 16th qb in 20 years, I would play mcCoy if i had chance to win. Alot of wasted picks, Traded up for him was a mistake too. Everyone can see who to pick in draft, but clevelands main office. I think they should try to win , dont care who is qb. I heard main office doesnt like mcCoy because of the Hit in the head thing last year and his dad spoke to press. Made him an outcast.dazed&confused wrote:IF they really feel Weeden is the best option, you couldn't relieve him late in the game, especially when your defense puts you in position to win. Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
I can't argue with you. This is why they tried to trade the farm for RG III. They are terrible but in any given year they are not bad enough to get the plum. This ensures they remain awful year after year.

browns defense did good, if they had a little offense, that game was theres.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
They could have won that game. With a little offense, they could win 3 more, They finish with a 4-12 record, miss out on Barkley and trade down for another Phil Taylor and a high second round pick which they will use to draft another reach. As The Who said, "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
I don't understand why they didn't let Richardson run outside more instead of plowing him up the middle everytime where 8 defenders were there to greet him.Get him outside where he can be more one on one with defenders.I think its time to throw the west coast offense back in the pacific ocean where it belongs, but wait there is good news browns fans, the bengal's defense looked horrible tonight, could it be weeden's coming out party?

The Browns running game went bad when they got rid of Vickers. Marecic is a joke as a blocking back.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
As bad as Brandon Weeden played, it is only one game and the first in his NFL career........Philadelphia led the league in sacks last year and their defense is one of the NFL's best.........I'm not going to pass judgment on Weeden this quickly........actually, he may not play that badly the rest of the year, and he will be the Browns' QB for the balance of the season. Cleveland didn't draft him #22 to sit the bench, and I would prefer that he play out the season.
If it doesn't work out this year, then the real possibility of drafting Matt Barkley is there........if Weeden doesn't show any measurable improvement, I would draft Barkley if he is there on the board.
The Browns' defense is definitely getting better........the run D could stand some improvement, but overall the defense kept the Browns in the Eagles game, and that was the case in many games last year.
I would say that with Jimmy Haslem III taking over as Browns' owner, and listening to him in his initial press conference, that he has a burning desire to win and could very well make wholesale changes after the season..........so the Browns are headed for an off season of transition, and with it could come significant staff and roster changes.

Re: Cleveland Browns 2012
TD, agreed.
Philly's D was pretty stout, against both Weeden and T-Rich - who is getting a ton of no talk after his first game, except for that wicked be-helmeting of Kurt Coleman. Sad, I thought that was our offensive play of the day too.
Weeden looked bad, but I'd much rather see him overthrowing receivers than underthrowing receivers. It will come with time, so PATIENCE is once again the word in Cleveland. Come too far now to quit, and we are much better as a franchise now - at least defensively and on special teams - than any point since 1999.
Heckert and Jauron need to stay. They've proven their worth to a franchise that needs all the football people it can get. The rest is out there to be had.
Wonder if a former Steelers owner could coax Bill Cowher back to his first NFL home?
