1st game River Valley defeats Fairland 10-7
I guess more what your looking at in these games is Raiders 3 drives inside the 10,Fairland 1
Lewis was a man prob had 50 yards rushing , Kyle Brown had nice runs, Whobrey had 3 deep strikes. Couple drops Davies was huge!
Good Job Raiders!

The Grove looked good,,,,hope nothing serious with number 33. South Point looks like they have some talent,,now it is time to just buy into the system and that will come with expierence.

sounds like the raiders could have a decent season and get a few wins this year

Looks like RV may slip into that number 2 spot behind CG. I was expecting more from Fairland. CG showed why they will be tough for anybody to beat. OVC won't have the greatest teams, but we will see some good games!

No one really shows anything much at previews but from what I heard RV has a lot more players on the sidelines and that's definitely a good thing. Hopefully they can make their last year in the conference an interesting one.

I could not AGREE MORE FUZZ! I am not predicting a single win or number of wins this season, but this Raider team is different, yes more players but if you looked at the players you could see they have been in the weight room! the kids look athletic and fit for the 1st time in a long time,i know first hand they lifted!
Also they didn''t have to show much they totally dominated the line of scrimmage and ran at will, Fairland had 3 big plays and it took 6 [plays for them to score from the 11yd line. The difference is these kids are confident and believe because they worked,I can also tell you first hand (not bashing a single past coach) This coaching staff is special and they know how to get through to the kids!
IMHO what RV football has to over come is can they eek out a tough fought win and get hit in the mouth and respond? I think we will find out if they are mentally and physically tough.

I saw soph's starting on the d-line not many kids played both ways on the lines, this is a good sign, they have athletes and a lot of them and most are pretty young!

I hope they have a winning season!

I didnt get to see the CG game but I though Chesapeakes defense looked pretty good. The first drive RH took it to the one and CHS stopped them. Chesapeake does have the imo the best running back and linebacker in the league. Also it was good to see RV field a football team but boy they were out of shape the whole team was bent over sucking air halfway through the 2nd. Also they have 3 big linemen who play offense but not defense? Why? Anyway Fairland and RH don't look very good at all. I still think CG and CHS will battle for first in the conference and RV will be righ in the mix also if they get in shape.

LOL, just watched the tape of the preview, RV didn't look gassed to me,they gained 20 yards on the last 2 plays of the game on the ground and almost 300yards of offense in a half, What i did see much of the 2nd half was Fairland's linemen on one knee much of the FG drive. I did see Lewis bent over once but those are just RB breaths,I don't doubt they need to get in better shape but i don't think they were in any worse shape than anyone else there! You must remember many of these boys haven't played football since Jr High especially the Linemen it's gonna take time!
The reason the linemen don't play defense they opt for the faster more athletic long armed DL who are 6' 4" 215 & 6' 2' 220 who are Sophs, still learning and it lets the o-linemen be fresh in the 4th qtr, Luxury of having almost 60 kids out!

It's a good feeling when ya have something to be excited about after so many losing seasons. River Vally looked pretty good for a change. If they can get a QB to hit/find their open receivers they will win some games. I think that will come in time. They did look out of shape after plays, but like anyone who has ever played the game knows, when the play started they went hard and didn't think about it...

RH- looks like its going to be another rough lLong season. The QB is the bright spot of the offense, and looked to be the only talented player on SAT night.

Sp- they might surprise some people. I think their RB looked tough, and their first defensive stand against cg looked good. They just gotta find their hearts and play through the pain. I think they will be a .500 team and will be tough by conference time, if their RB stays healthy.

Fairland- they looked like a typical Fairland team. Small and unable to defend the run. Nothing really stuck out to me about this team..

Chesapeake- they looked solid on offense. Two good RBs. 21 is prob the second be RB in the league right now. I wasn't overly impressed with their D.

CG- looked really bad their first drive. Line looks huge, but really bad run blocking. They done well for Bare in passing situations. Steel looked like the best athlete in the OvC. Gunther looked like the best RB.... But he is 3rd team?? Any word on Steels knee?

I like CG_ALUMNI's analysis. I think RV is up there with Peake now. I did have Fairland high, but they may just above SP for last place. And Gunther may indeed be the best back in the OVC. I think he's the best CG running back I've seen in a while. Look for him to get some major yards for the OVC champions. We all hope Steele's knee is OK.

I think Gunther is gonna be very good as long as he keeps his head on straight and keeps moving forward. He could be a D1 athlete in my opinion.

I have not heard this from Steele himself, but I did her from people in CG that he is most likely out for the season. He has to go to Columbus to see a doc, but it doesn't look hopeful. This couldn't have happened to a better kid. I hope nd pray this kid gets his chance at some college football. He is the best athlete I've seen at CG. And that's saying a lot.

What I seen in the OVC preview was the overall league is not good again this year. Their non-league games could be bad.

Peake Fullback Meadows is out for the season with a broken leg. Huge loss. Very powerful runner/blocker and an even better linebacker
