Did not see this one end like this, but I am happy to see Fairland get a win.

I say west puts Bricker at tailback, in my opinion he is the best back that we have, give him the ball

dime-a-dozen wrote:WOW! As I watched this game West score immediately on their first drive and I think got complacent and Fairland took advantage of it! It was as if the Dragons took the lead and West became shell shocked!! For Fairland to be so young they played an almost flawless game only one turnover compared to 4 or 5 for West. Honestly being a realist and OVC fan if they were to play 9 more times idk how many more times Fairland would win. I know the score was lop sided in this one but there was just something about the game Fairland played way to perfect! But he give credit where it is due they took advantage of every opportunity they were granted and they sure as heck didn't look like a ball team with only three seniors! Congrats Dragons! Go OVC!
Very good post agree 100%. Not taking anything away Fairland they played a very good ballgame I was really impressed with their offense. That was the most athletic dragon team I think I have ever seen, very impressed. They surely did expose our weaknesses. That was not the same west team that i've seen in the scrimmages missing blocks and tackles not hustling back to huddle after plays, several mistakes. That was no way shape or form portsmouth west football that was played lastnight. Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings or make them mad but they absolutely was not ready to play lastnight if what i seen lastnight continues we will be lucky to go 5-5 hopely this was a huge eye opener. Say what you want I'm making no excusses we got out played out coached out hustled in every aspect of the game. Great job from the young Dragons and their coaching staff look out OVC Fairlands got a good football team.

Funny thing is, Fairland isn't even the best team in the OVC.

It's really hard to tell at this point, but one thing is for sure: there's a HUGE gap between the top 1 or 2 teams and the bottom 3 or 4. Remember: we're going to see very soon if this was just a fluke or if there really is something to this team. Fairland gets it's 3 toughest remaining games against Wheelersburg (playoffs most every year), Bishop Hartley (a legitimate state title contender), and OVC rival Coal Grove (defending OVC champs, playoffs in '09 and '10), at Fairland. If they go 2-1 in those games you know it's the real deal.

I think West is gonna have to realize this isn't the 1950s and throw the ball around a bit more, maybe a couple quick screen passes, run the spread a bit. Anyway hats off to the Dragons, I feel they can win the OVC, I am very interested to see the Burg matchup. Could a dragon poster post their schedule for the remainder of the season?

Yea well I went to the Ironton/Burg game and Ironton barely squeeked by what everyone was saying was an "average" Burg team. Burg really outplayed Ironton in many ways. Without Lewis Ironton becomes a whole different team. A win is a win so good job Ironton but I wouldn't be so quick to judge if I were you.

If there is such a thing as a good lost, this is one. I feel that west as of late as became complacent. Instead of expecting success because of talent, hard work, and coaching, it seems they have expected it because of arrogance and recent history. I felt last years class could of been better, but they had so much talent and speed that they were still on of the best teams in the area. This years team, although good, does not have the natural ability of the past two years. That coupled with the fact that we usually beat fairland was a dangerous mixture. Not taking away from fairland, great job and good luck to them. However, I think this loss wakes west up and they go on a tear until our week 10 matchup with burg where I predict both teams will be 8-1.
