I don't like that logic either. However, Valley is 2-0 after playing Portsmouth, a team that hasn't played good defense in years, and a Rock Hill squad that might be the worst team in the BAD, BAD OVC this year and is amazingly weak even by recent Rock Hill standards.Crab's brother wrote:I love how Grove is so much better than Valley because they played with a team that played with Ironton.
Valley has done what they have wanted to do on the ground the last two weeks. The Indians are not near as good as they were in 2011, but they are a lot better than what those on here are giving them credit for. Valley thrashed the Grove 2 seasons ago when the Hornets made the playoffs and the Indians didn't. In 2009, a 9-1 Grove team scored with under a minute left to escape a 7-3 Valley team.
Valley will be ready on their home turf Friday night.
I don't know how many he has seen over the last 8 years, but I've seen quite a few and I can vouch for his statement. And I'll go a step further and say that they'll probably be even better next year. The line-up is loaded with sophomores and juniors, especially at the skill positions. There are nearly 20 sophomores on the roster, a lot of whom are already seeing significant playing time.Crab's brother wrote:SPAMONY wrote:they better be Crab's brother because this is the best Grove team i have seen in the last 8 years
How many Grove games have you watched in the last 8 years?
Maybe 10 give or take 1Crab's brother wrote:SPAMONY wrote:they better be Crab's brother because this is the best Grove team i have seen in the last 8 years

No not really but I will say that everyone (save ironton) circles BURG as the team to beat on their schedule every year and in most years it defines their season. I have seen Coal Grove play other schools Valley included over the last few years and this team can flat out play. IMO they let BURG off the hook last week.NTHZONE wrote:Spam ... So Burg is the measuring stick on how you judge an opponent ?

There is no SOC/OVC argument...lolbigpoppipop wrote:Spam is correct! Burg is a great measuring stick! Other than last year, only a wise, elderly man would remember the last time Valley beat Burg. And for the most part, Ironton beats Burg. We will see how the comparisons turn out on Friday. Look for this game and the Fairland/Burg game in a few weeks to finish any OVC/SOC arguments.
