Weak for another year, then .500 in 2018, and then contend for the OVC.

 ...Funny
Can't be worse than the guy who had Donnie Johnson on his team and only let him touch the ball three times in a league title game
Or went away from Winters (who was gaining 5 yards a pop) in an overtime playoff game against Sheridan, to make another young man the star. (which did NOT work out!)

Blue devils will be improved over last year. Not sure exactly what that will mean in the way of wins and loses. But so much of football is attitude and preparation and buying in. My understanding is they were surprised how many they had at there Saturday morning 7 am lift. Think there were a few surprises that showed. The kids will buy in and he will get community to buy in. This thing will get better pretty quick. There is a big difference in being turned around and winning championships. it takes taent to win championships. you can very competitive without a load of talent.

Nice article in the LDN on Penrod. Won't be too long before Gallipolis is battle for the top spot in the OVC. Congrats Coach and good luck.

Blue devils number a little low this year. Will only be about 38. even with kids on vacation looks to me like over 30 there daily. Working harder then they have worked in a long time. Bought my blue devils card off a senior the other day. I asked if he was getting a off season work in. We are only 3 weeks into June and he said i have been worked harder then my other 3 summers combined. I dont know if there is a enough talent there for a lot of wins. But this team i think will not look anytime this year like they are unprepared.

I think they will be .500 this year. I feel things are about to change for them to the good.

This team has to figure out a way to run the ball. You cant be going 3 and out all the time or your offense is a decent pass play or a incomplete pass or a turnover. If this team can just get to the point where the defense at least has to account for a running game they will improve my guess if they could come up with a game plan that they could block 20 or 25 legit running plays a game. Not QB runs because no one can hold a block for even a two count. i think that alone even if you dont have a brake away running threat improves this defense 14 to 21 points a game. and think it improves the offense at least a touchdown a game. so you make this team 3 to 4 scores more competitive they would be in a lot of games. they still just have no real size. That will be the issue.

You know families have lives outside of football. Gallia Academy has not had a team with 50 kids on it since before they started varsity soccer. so 38 is maybe 9 below the largest team they have had in 8 or 9 years. There is plenty of talent coming. The blue devils redoing there youth program will not take very long to start to bring results.

As far as i know elks has nothing to do with the youth football program anymore they may i do not know. I do believe all kids sign up through varsity football coach and they are basically traveling teams now. this is second or third year. I am not positive of this because i have no kids that are younger then 17 but i do know i was in buffalo west virginia one saturday and there were gallia teams there that day.

I googled it i was wrong. Still ran by elks. But the quality of what i saw last year was much better then anything i had seen in youth football and youth football coaching in years.
