Clay basketball

Post by Bluebball44 »

Clay has had a lot of upsetting seasons lately. I'm hoping this season they will turn everything around with there senior tony Whitt coming back there junior Levi Evans another junior micheal Schmidt and without coach trainer this year I believe that they will be able to get more done any thoughts?

I saw them this summer at Waverly's shoot out with Trainer and was very impressed they beat Western and beat other teams pretty well. I know it's only summer league but they looked good.

I hope they hired Arnold King to be the new coach. I have thought for a while he would do a great job. Can someone tell me if they hired Arnold or not.

Thanks Danny. Is he still on the staff. I think him and his brother Darren at Easten are two of the better basketball minds around. Cant wait for basketball to get here. Not coaching this year so I can watch my daughter play. I miss being around the game. Especially just talking basketball with hoop junkies like yourself. Once it is in your blood you cant get it out. I will be following Colton and Chase at Eastern. REMO.

I've heard that Clay athletics is a mess right now...I'm not talking about the kids either. Just coaches quitting left and right.

FOR THE RECORD, COACH TRAINER DID NOT QUIT, HE HAS A CHANCE TO RETIRE AT THE END OF THIS YEAR AND HE'S GOING TO TAKE IT. I THINK HE REALIZED THAT WHAT SUPPORT HE HAD FROM THE PARENTS WAS DISAPPEARING. WHEN YOU TAKE THE SAME BOYS THAT WENT LIKE 18-2, 16-4 WITH ARNOLD KING AND GO 2-18 ID TAKE MY RETIREMENT TO. DON'T GET ME WRONG, TRAINER IS A GREAT PERSON, BUT NOT THE COACH FOR THESE BOYS.
NO THEY HAVEN'T HIRED A COACH YET.
AND ARNOLD KING WOULD BE THE BEST CHOICE FOR THE BOYS AND THEIR SCORE SHEETS, BUT IF COACH BETTEN WANTS IT, HE WAS THE FRESHMAN COACH LAST YEAR I BELIEVE, THEY WILL GIVE IT TO HIM DUE TO THE FACT THAT HE IS A TEACHER AT THE SCHOOL. AND THEN SCHOOL POLITICS, WHICH YOU'D THINK WITH THE PREVIOUS BALL RECORDS THERE WOULD BE NO QUESTION ON KING BEING GIVEN THE POSTITION.
I'VE SPOKEN TO QUITE A FEW OF THE BOYS AND THEY ALL AGREE THAT THEY WOULD RATHER HAVE KING AS THEIR COACH DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY FEEL HE FITS WITH THEM WELL, THEY ALL RESPECT HIM HIGHLY AND MOST OF THEM HAVE PLAYED FOR HIM JV. AND HIS RECORDS WITH THESE BOYS SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!
THEY ALL LIKE COACH BETTEN, THEY FEEL HE IS A GOOD COACH BUT NOT A HEAD COACH.
I NO THAT SOME OF THE OLDER VARSITY BOYS ARE NOT GOING TO OPEN GYMS AND CONDITIONING, AND OFTEN WONDERED IF IT WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY WERE WORRIED THAT TRAINER WOULD CHANGE HIS MIND AND COACH, BUT ONE OF THE BOYS DADS SAID THAT THEY WERE COMING BACK THEY WERE JUST IN A DIFFERENT TYPE OF TRAINING AND IT TOOK UP MOST OF THEIR TIME.
I DO KNOW THAT THE POINT GUARD IS COMING BACK THIS YEAR LEVI EVANS, THERE WAS A RUMOR THAT HE HAD QUIT FOR GOOD, BUT TALKED TO HIM AND HE SAID THAT HE WAS PLAYING THIS YEAR AND SEEMED TO BE LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. MY WIFE AND I REALLY LIKED WATCHING HIM LAST YEAR, WE CALLED HIM SPEEDY. HE CAN REALLY HANDLE THE BALL AND SEES THE "WHOLE" FLOOR, CAN'T SAY THAT FOR TO MANY OF THE PLAYERS FROM LAST YEAR. I HEARD THE WHITT BOY WILL BE PLAYING, I HOPE HIS KNEE HAS FULLY HEELED, HES ANOTHER ON THAT TEAM CAN HANG AND BANG WITH THE SCHMIDT BOY. I HOPE THAT THE SCHAFFER BOY DOES GOOD, HAVEN'T SAW HIM PLAY FOR AWHILE. BUT I HAVE WATCHED THESE BOYS PLAY TOGEHTER BEFORE AND THEY PLAY VERY WELL TOGETHER.
BUT WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF THESE BOYS STILL HAVE THE SAME LOVE FOR THE GAME AND WINNING BEFORE THEY WENT TO TRAINER. GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOYS, AND WHOEVER YOUR COACH IS!

Hey Remy nice to hear from you buddy your little girl is a special kid fast and competative as long as she keeps working on that handle skies the limit. The boys have a tuff schedual this year with the Classic at waverly,Oak Hill,Ports West,Wellston,Northwest,Zane Trace, that's some pretty good teams . But they are working every day to get better so we will see.
