As much as i want an IRONMEN victory it will not happen against the Burg unless our O line controls the game. They sure did not do it against Athens.
Re: Week 5: Jackson (2-2) @ Wheelersburg (3-1)
Jackson will win this game if they don't have a let down. Then if they stay focused them and gallia stay focused they will both be 7-2 going into final game for league title and a shot at playoffs. Athens is a excellent team. You have lost to 2 highly talented teams if you continue to grow by end of year you will be right there.

If Jackson has fewer than 2 turnovers and less than 6 penalties we'll win.
Re: Week 5: Jackson (2-2) @ Wheelersburg (3-1)
Burg has improved every week and they do have speed. Jackson will have to play their best in this game make a mistake and it could be a quick 6. Should be a good game like to see Burg win just for the points though

The Burgs offense can score on anybody I believe, so if the defense can limit Jackson to just a couple of scores I think they can win this game. That no huddle has given everyone fits, including Ironton.
Re: Week 5: Jackson (2-2) @ Wheelersburg (3-1)
Jackson with 2 losses already are not likely to make the playoffs unless they win this game and even if they do, their weeks 5-10 opponents are a combined 5-15, so not much help. Burg continues to get a little better each week, but this will be a big challenge. Jackson is about double our size of school and plays a very tough schedule (maybe too tough). I think the Pirates will win a close one at home.

Re: Week 5: Jackson (2-2) @ Wheelersburg (3-1)
Can someone give some info on Jackson; as far as size, depth, strengths, weaknesses, style of play, etc? For instance, how well does Jackson defend the pass? Do they have DB's that can match the Pirates length and athleticism at the receiver positions? Do they also have LB's that can cover Burg's TE in coverage? I really like the way E Miller from Burg spreads the ball around to his receivers. A lot of HS teams in the D-3, D-4 and D-5 levelse struggle to match-up well with athletes like D Miller (6'4" excellent athlete), Martin (6'2" excellent athlete), Claxon (speedy small receiver with good hands) and Pyles (6'1"-200lbs TE with good hands and strength after the catch), who all do an excellent job of going after the ball as opposed to letting it come to them. E Miller seems to have decent trust in them which equals good timing on a lot of throws. In addition to that, E Miller is equally as dangerous with his feet. I really believe the Ironmen front line is going to have to get consistent pressure on their own without blitzing a lot from the LB's in order to be successful against the Burg passing attack. Do the Ironmen have a good front 4/5 with capable DBs? Plus, are they well conditioned?
If so, it should be a lot of fun to watch? What about the Jackson offense? What are their offensive strengths?

Jackson is small in coverage but they do pretty well on the bigger guys more often than not. Our 5'8 DB had 2 picks on the 6'3 receiver for Athens.
Re: Week 5: Jackson (2-2) @ Wheelersburg (3-1)
While both of those picks came from under thrown passes, I agree the DB had very good ball awareness. GO IRONMEN and win your next 6 games.Ironman92 wrote:Jackson is small in coverage but they do pretty well on the bigger guys more often than not. Don't under estimate Larry Hall as a defense coach. At one look and he can figure how to stop a offense. The Burg always had a superior defense while he was at Wheelersburg.

I think Burg by 2 scores. Halls have a hard time at their homecoming.

It's the same Jackson philosophy, big O-line and they'll line up and try to run you over, on defense they are always solid. Jackson does have some good athletes but seemed to have less team speed overall to me. All that being said I think Jackson gets back in the win column this week after back to back home loses.
Re: Week 5: Jackson (2-2) @ Wheelersburg (3-1)
Must win for Jackson in terms of playoffs. 3 losses hasn't been enough to get in the last few years in this region and I'm not so sure Jackson runs the table in the SEOAL this season. I'm not saying they won't win it, but its more balanced this year imo.
