Just more evidence why people don't buy your paper....bdubya wrote:Nobody from GAHS administration has contacted us about the incident. I did receive word on the leak from the school's statistician, but he is not speaking on behalf of the administration - now is he. Then again, figuring the school statistician cannot even send stats to his former employer for the last five years but can manage to send them to his local blog - I just don't know how much credibility that statistician has in regards to relaying local information from the school.Jottings wrote:Still no publicity on the GAHS gym floor incident. Are the board members keeping it quiet? Nothing has been in the paper recently even though we tipped the paper off about it last week. Apparently no one covered last week's school board meeting. Hmmmmm.
I also didn't realize that water leaks were a sport. Mr. Statistician, did you contact the news department when this happened?

It is my business Jottings. What about in-season stats? And why so quick to send information about water leaks but not about actual sporting events?Jottings wrote:None of your business. You better be concerned about Jackson. When was the last time the Ironmen lost three in a row?
Re: Water leak ruins new GAHS cage floor
You are right, you send end-of-season stats. Too bad we can never get any in-season stats that we request so that we can give readers the coverage they desire - especially since a few of these coaches you help have been under the impression that you would take care of getting stats to the local paper on a regular basis. Again, outside of season-ending stats, you are 0-for-the-last five-years on that subject in two sports.Jottings wrote:Have sent you final stats when you asked for them at the end of several sports seasons, so don't say I've never sent you any stats
And don't fool yourself. The only reason you send end-of-season stats is to make sure that GA kids are not left off the AP list, since I am your and the other five schools local representative.
10 schools, not one. 39 fall varsity programs, not one. What sports are worthy of not being covered so that I can free up time to talk about a damaged floor? How does that help kids?
And believe or not, ALL 10 of these schools have the right to coverage since they are located in the United States. Your answer is how I am screwing over kids by covering the other nine schools. The reality is that only covering one school screws over nine other communities.
But, it's all about the (certain) kids - right?
We are working with the information we have in front of us. If you send nothing in, you assure yourself of no coverage. And with your experience in this field, that is something that shouldn't have to be explained.
Unless you are purposely bartering the kids' coverage to play your politics.
Re: Water leak ruins new GAHS cage floor
For your information BW, I usually get SEOAL standings done before I start on my stats, which I do for a hobby. (By the way, you never give the SEOAL any coverage unless Craig Dunn of the LDN sends it to you. GAHS is a member of the SEOAL and Blue Devil fans like to know what's going on in the league.) If it's an away game, that means I don't get home sometime until midnight.
I'll start getting the stats done, but don't finish them until Saturday. Sometimes its late Saturday aftrnoon before I get "em done, too late for the Sunday Times Sentinel which is printed early on Saturday.
Since there's no Monday paper anymore, it's old news by Tuesday. By the way, Heartland Publications should change the name of the paper to The Tribune, because it's not a daily paper any more.
I don't know where you got the idea that you thought the school officials were relying on me to furnish info to the paper. That's what you are paid to do. LOL

Actually, the word was coaches - not school officials. I am also paid to cover the tri-county area and the 10 schools in it.Jottings wrote:I don't know where you got the idea that you thought the school officials were relying on me to furnish info to the paper. That's what you are paid to do. LOL
I don't know where you got the idea that you thought I was only responsible for Gallia Academy. That's what you used to do, but you retired.LOL

93, you've slowly earned my trust in the previous year after that little thing last fall - just talked to Keyser about that one earlier this week.
Maybe if you were more aware of the subject - as Keyser and others are - it would make a little more sense.
Feel free to contact Keyser if you have any other questions regarding this subject.

I deleted my post because its really none of my business ... I was only giving an oppinion of what the entire topic looked like to an outsider after reading all the comments for the first time ... kind of a hint to say "sometimes the high road is best."

All the facts help before passing judgment, too.
Don't worry, I'm done with this. The info and the confession is out for all to see, which is all I ever really wanted anyways.
Thanks Keyser for the assistance. L70sLG, I also appreciate your observance on this subject over the last several seasons.
The green light is on.

Your exactly right.bdubya wrote:All the facts help before passing judgment, too.
Problem is, 90% of the readers and posters on SEOPS do that ... which is why I posted what I did - to show that maybe some of the other (939 views on this topic) looked at it the same way ... by throwing your own feelings out their and making statements - you and they will automatically be judged and viewed in different ways ... some good, some bad, some positive, some negative, some will agree, some will disagree and some will create a view that is totally way off base from your intention ...
You have every right to post anything you wish - and by all means do so - I just thought maybe a 2nd opinion from an outside point of view would be helpfull ..... someone to remind you it doesn't hurt to be 'political' at times ... I always liked the "thank you sir, I'll look into that" answer ...

Looks like repairs are held up with insurance red tape and lawsuit issues. Can not believe it !! Kids need a gym fix it and then worry who was at fault after that. !!!!!
Re: Water leak ruins new GAHS cage floor
Got a good look at the gym last night during HOF event. Pretty bad. Still nothing has been done and it's been two weeks. Guess we'll have to go back to the 900 seat gym, at least until January.
Re: Water leak ruins new GAHS cage floor
Took a look at it last night during the hall of fame banquet. It's really a mess. Looks like we'll be playing in our 900-seat gym for ahile this winter. It's been two weeks and still nothing has happened to the floor since the leak.
