Re: Week 6 (5-0) Ironton @ (4-1) Johnson Central Ky
If I had to bet, I'd say that the teams have never met in varsity football.
We have played Lawrence County and Montgomery County (among other KY teams, of course). I think the team 86Tiger is thinking of is Lawrence County rather than Johnson Central.

They were tough when Burg played them. A lot like Ironton: fundamentally sound, good line play, speed, and forcing their will on you. I have family that attended JC and they are perennial powerhouse in football. Should be a great game pitting two teams that mirror one another.
Good luck Tigers!
Also, not really bad drive either...once you get out of Catlettsburg...made it several times to see cousin play. Paintsville is a lot like Portsmouth, Ironton...about the same size...Ky just has fewer schools per county where in Ohio you go 10 miles and hit 7 different school zones! Thus bigger student body!

If I'm not mistaken I think we had a preseason scrimmage a few years back down there.

i've had people tell me thatif we beat johnson central, we are virtually in the playoffs,
1-is that even possible this early
2-i know at this point in the season everybody is talking playoffs.but we still got 4 very tough games ahead of us.
3-GO TIGERS GO.
DO NOT GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS YOUNG FIGHTING TIGERS. 1 GAME AT A TIME. WE WANT NOTHING MORE THAN TO SEE YOU IN THE PLAYOFFS, PREFERABLY AT IRONTON.
BUT FIRST WE GOTTA TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS.

I GOT TO WATCH JOHNSON CENTRAL PRACTICE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO BEFORE THE IRONTON JUNIOR HIGH PLAYED THERE THEY ARE NOT AS BIG AS IRONTON UP FRONT ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS COAL GROVE OR RUSSELL THEY LOOK TO BE SORT OF A POWER TEAM WITH ALOT OF WING T AND I FORMATIONS I DIDNT SEE ALOT OF SPEED ON THE FIELD I WOULD SAY THEY WILL BE VERY PHYSICAL AND NOT AFRAID TO HIT. QB IS NOT REAL GOOD AT THROWING THE BALL BUT SEAMS TO BE A GOOD ATHLETE ALOT OF 2 RECIEVER PATTERNS AND THEY LIKE TO BOOT PASS ALOT FROM WHAT I COULD TELL SEEN ONE KID THAT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS 3 HUNDRED PLUS BUT HE WAS ABOUT 5 10 NOT FOR SURE HE EVEN PLAYS BACKS WHERE UNDER 6 FOOT BUT LOOKED STRONG FROM WHAT I COULD REMEMBER EASY PLACE TO FIND AND IT TOOK US 1HR AND 15 TO GET THERE TO THE FIELD IT IS RIGHT OFF 23 ABOUT A MILE TO THE STADIUM DONT KNOW IF THEY WILL KEEP UP WITH THE SPEED OF IRONTON IRONTON WILL HAVE TO COME READY TO PLAY IN THIS ONE.

No! when Geoffrey was in 8th grade they played Johnson Central! I never said we played them in High school that was Caglewis. I know we have never played them in high school as well as I know that we did play them in 8th grade.

Bait, from my calculations, Ironton could lose 3 of the next 4 and still get in one of the final playoff spots IF Wheelersburg, Russell, Gallipolis, and Ashland continue to win and earn Ironton second level points. A win this weekend and a win against Oak Hill would most likely secure a HOME playoff game in the first round.

I see the Tigers finishing 8-1 or no worse than 7-2.

No insult there old Bait, guess I put that wrong. Just meant that it was rather quiet on here. You're Tiger Bait wrote:Gus wrote:You're Tiger Bait wrote:wow, it's wierd when nobody from the opposition is on here to chat with.[

Ironton will run over this team. Best of luck ironton. All the schools this side of the river need to start scheduling these Ky teams, Ashland, Russell, Raceland, Greenup, Johnson Central. They are great computer points!
Re: Week 6 (5-0) Ironton @ (4-1) Johnson Central Ky
According to fantasic50, Ironton is 100% in the playoffs with 5 wins.
http://www.fantastic50.net/Ohio_Berths.php
Also, have a 97% chance at a home game with 5 wins.

Region 15 is really weak this year, besides the top 2-3 teams. Piketon is sitting at 2-3 and has a 73% chance at the playoffs, so there is no depth in the region at all.

Really?
Johnstown Monroe is 4th and has only lost to Granville who is D3 and 4-1
Harrison Central is 4-1 and lost to the #2 seated St Clairsville.
Martins Ferry is 4-1 and lost to Harrison Central. They also beat Ridgewood by 2 scores who will be in the top 6 in Reg 19 by the end of the season. Possibly top 4 depending on if they go 7-3 vs 8-2.
