Re: Portsmouth West (2-3) @ Minford (5-0)
This is an intriguing match up. It's conference play, expect the unexpected!! Minford could easily be setting at 3-2 but they have shown the ability to take care of business late in the game. I'd say conditioning has a lot to do with their wins over the Streak's and Oak's. What does all this mean, absolutely nothing!! If Minford has the ball late and down by less than 3, I give the edge to the Falcon's. They know how to finish!!!

This game is going to be close!! One score will seperate the winners from the losers in this one. Whoever plays mistake free football, no turnovers, no pentalties will win. This is going to be a dog fight folks! Whoever wants it the most brings home the W in this one. Im pulling for the boys from the West Side to bring home the win and get rolling in conference play.

Remember that game well. The coming out party for Jerrid Pendleton. 3 long touchdowns I believe.NewEra wrote:Never forget 2004, do not let history repeat itself....we all remember what happend the last time an undefeated Minford team played a .500 or barely under .500 Portsmouth West team.

I've been wrong before but I just dont think this game will be close at all. Maybe in the first quater to midway in the second west will hang around. After that i look for the falcons to put them away by 2-3 scores

Was glad to see Dylan Kouns get some backfield time and carries last week. Tough as nails and quick. He's the kind of speed we need on the field.

I couldn't agree more. I watched this kid play in a JV game and he's fun to watch, great speed, blocking and good moves. He looks like a natural. I don't remember him from the pee wee level. Where's he from?siderman wrote:Was glad to see Dylan Kouns get some backfield time and carries last week. Tough as nails and quick. He's the kind of speed we need on the field.

I see this being a very close game. Minford is likely going to make the playoffs, but now every game for them is fighting for a home playoff game. They really don't want to end up playing @ Ironton or St Clairsville. Region 15 seems to be very strong at the top, but quite weak at the bottom this year. West has been playing better and this game could go either way, but I see West coming out on top in this one.

If West wins this one minford will have to make playoffs at 7-3 imo4th n Goal wrote:I see this being a very close game. He's the Michigan kid. I thought he would've been playing some corner before now. But i really like how he runs. Maybe the second best tailback on that team outside of Bricker (considering Crace and Meeker as fullbacks).WestSportsFan wrote:I couldn't agree more. According to fantastic50.net, they have a 99% probability at making it at 7-3, so that's very possible. The bad thing is that at 7-3, they will be on the road.Here4Fun wrote:If West wins this one minford will have to make playoffs at 7-3 imo4th n Goal wrote:I see this being a very close game. It's easier to make the playoffs in D4-15 than it is D4-19. But the level of competition is so much tougher in D4.

Very true. The top 4 in Reg 15 is normally very tough. More parity in Reg 19 makes it so tough to get into the top 8.siderman wrote:It's easier to make the playoffs in D4-15 than it is D4-19. But the level of competition is so much tougher in D4.

I believe that was 2003 and was the coming out for Jerrod Pendleton in his sophmore season he had either 160 or 180 some yards.siderman wrote:Remember that game well. Oh this is gonna be a good one!!! I cant wait for friday!! The winner wins the turnover battle, and doesnt commit a ton of penalties in a close one. There will not be alot of possesions for either team (dont blink it will be a fast moving one) because of all the running. I think West lives up to the preseason hype. West just got a little healthier and BIGGER!

I'm glad to see that my cousin's "baby", Jessie Scott is going to be back on the field. That's a HUGE impact on that West line, not just from a size standpoint, but from a senior leadership standpoint as well. I still stick with my prediction that this is going to be a close game! I'm hoping I get a chance to make it to this game myself!

That will be a huge emotional lift for West as well. As for the 2003 game, I was their as the Senators ripped my heart out as a young falcon fan. I expect the Falcons to be ready to play and come out strong.Jesco White wrote:I'm glad to see that my cousin's "baby", Jessie Scott is going to be back on the field. Re: Portsmouth West (2-3) @ Minford (5-0)
Regardless of the score this game will be very physical. It will be two teams lining up in tight formations run running right at each other. It will embody everything Ohio high school football is known for. Jessie Scott is a huge addition, he will definitely effect the outcome. minford had superior team speed, but the 5-2 is tailor made to stop the Wing-t. I look for this game to be similar in outcome to the slobberknocker back in 2010. Two fairly evenly matched opponents, with chips on their shoulder. West is definitely the underdog and for good reason. But, with 2 weeks to settle into the new lineup they will be as ready as ever. If they win this one, I feel it will be the confidence they need to win out until the burg game. The player who we need to come alive is Justin crace. If he can play like every one on the west side knows he can and carry the load we can win. On a side note, I'm not sure if there is a better place to watch a game than minford, great facilities.
Re: Portsmouth West (2-3) @ Minford (5-0)
If we get the rain they're calling for, how will that effect the game? It is a grass field
Re: Portsmouth West (2-3) @ Minford (5-0)
Two talented teams. look like west is starting to click but in the end i see me minford pulling out by 7 in another thriller!! Falcons have to much speed in the backfield!
Minford 27
West 20
Minford 27
West 20
Re: Portsmouth West (2-3) @ Minford (5-0)
the 5-2 is tailor made to stop a wing T? actually its tailor made to get run on very easy ive seen minford run this offense 6 seasons now..5-2 is not difficult to scheme against..and honestly if it rains i think it benefits the siders more so since minford has the faster team
