OVC Week 6: Rock Hill (0-5;0-0) @ Coal Grove (1-3; 0-0)

Post by fuzzhead »

Rivalry game. Coal Grove has won the last 6 in the series. Everyone is 0-0 in OVC play and nobody is going to the playoffs. Each team has just as much of a chance to win the conference as the other 5 teams. Coal Grove is the favorite to win the league and has much more talent and depth than everyone else in the OVC, especially Rock Hill. I can't see Rock Hill making this anywhere close to interesting, but crazier things have happened. Thoughts?

I agree Fuzz. Looks like it will lopsided. I look for CG to have an easy first half and keep in mind they Fairland and Peake coming up who may give them decent games. CG ends season 6-3.

Good Luck to both. Lot of good quality kids on both these teams. Grove wins. tl895, comments like yours give Ironton a bad rep., as if they need help.

I'm not overlooking anyone, especially Chesapeake. They've played a brutal schedule and they are always well-coached. Fairland/Chesapeake is always a great game, too. I think if Rock Hill can play the best game of the season next week and get the offense up and moving they can beat South Point and if they do that they should be able to steam roll River Valley, thus letting the youngsters feel what it's like to earn a high school win and salvaging something from this year. I don't think it will happen but if Rock Hill could steal a 3rd conference win against Fairland or Chesapeake and score an upset it would be a great experience for the freshmen and sophomores.

Don't hold it against one school's fan base because of one dolt. He is just very mis-informed. I've seen a few CG-RH games in the recent past and the days of fights in this rivalry is a thing of the past.

RH has been down for the past 5 seasons but it really has nothing to do with the coaching. You need talent to win games and RH just doesnt have that anymore. Not to mention that the players arent coming out like they did before for whatever reason. You do realize he has led them to 2 playoff appearances, so he must not be too bad of a ball coach.

A Head Coach is there to develop talent. As well as to get players motivated to play year after year. So whatever reason players are not coming out. The head coach job is to adapt to get the most out of his team. So RH has been down for the past 5 years. What is Knipp doing to improve the situation. So what he led teams to 2 playoff appearances. What is he leading them to NOW?

to the fans of rock hill, and coal grove. please remember this is not the consensus of ironton fans.
nor that of nowhere near the majority.
the vast majority of us ironton fans long for the days, when all the lawrence county teams were ontop of their games. and were meeting in the playoffs. as well as thriving in the playoffs.please don't lump us together , based on a few opinions.
